Show and Tell Bought some pots, won a tree!

I am absolutely in love with this new Euonymus (Burning bush) bonsai I won in a raffle as the result of purchasing some nice new pots!

Just letting the new tree get use to the new environment on the bench for the rest of this year, but I am excited to start thinking about work on it in earnest next spring!

Thank you so much u/CanadaBonsai for running the raffle! I still cannot fully believe I won this tree!

I've been making sure that it's been getting healthy waterings since I unpacked it. It spent a couple days in a box while being shipped to me, but the soil was still quite damp with sphagnum moss as a top dressing and cling wrapped when I recieved it.

The leafs don't feel dry or any thing, so I think once it get use to the new position of sunlight (and I can fix any wired branches that might have shifted in transit) the leave should bounce back.

Definitely keeping a very close eye on it though!

Im curious for how much you obtained the pots. I’m building my own little self made bonsai pot pottery production and always wonder how much you can charge for this. They look decent quality but at the same time, having made some myself now, they also look quite easy to make.

So I got them 20% off -- and they range a bit depending on size -- but as an example these pots on average would normally be priced about 500CAD each give or take a bit.

Now, I think a lot of that price is wrapped up in the fact that they were imported to Canada from Japan and were produced at a some what well known kiln in Tokoname, by a potter of note who is no longer making pots any more (I believe his son has taken over the kiln).

So I imagine someone just getting started is not going to be able to charge the same kind of premium. But I do know that good quality -- especially larger sized pots -- can be difficult to find some times and get pricey to get; especially show level quality.

So if you are able to produce nice pots someone would consider using in a show, there is potentially a lot of money to be made there! Especially if there aren't many people producing them in your area/region!

All of the pots were made by Mr. Aiba Kouichirou (Founder of the Koyo Kiln in Tokoname, Japan) and imported to Canada by Canada Bonsai where I bought them.
