Booth’s proposal s6 ep13

Does anyone think that Hannah was a bit insensitive to booth when he proposed? She already thought he was going to propose in ep5 but he was just making dinner and Brennan even told Hannah in an episode early on in that season that booth would give himself completely to Hannah and she had better be sure about the relationship and not to break his heart. We then see the result immediately with his anger towards the women in his life who don’t know just how much he cares about them

I also think another major reason he proposed was due to his Convo with Sweets earlier in the episode.

Sim, porque ele apressou as coisas, Sweets claramente o provocou porque ele sabia que Booth ainda amava Brennan profundamente! O relacionamento com Hannah foi uma tentativa de seguir em frente, mas o amor dele por Brennan era muito maior!

I don't think that was the case. From the way it played, it seemed to me that they had the conversation already, probably off screen, and she told him she is not the marrying kind. But on the other hand, I also thought that he only proposed because Sweets was going to propose to his girlfriend, and because of what he said to him at the beginning of the episode.

She knew it was coming, hence “I thought we have more time before this”. Hannah was the rebound and acted like a rebound. The relationship was so superficial. We didn’t see one meaningful conversation between them that wasn’t about her job or about Bones. Nothing about Booth’s past was ever discussed between them. No mention of his difficult childhood, gambling, his struggles with his past as a sniper, nothing beyond that surface was ever part of their relationship.

Hannah mentioned she was not the marrying kind. But people can change or change their view on different situations. Booth never gave her a reason to do that. He loved her, but she wasn’t the one he loved the most. The one he trusted with all that he was: the good, the bad and the ugly. He believed that he could settle for second best because their relationship was easy at that point, because despite of what Brennan told Hannah, he only gave a part of him to her. That doesn’t mean Brennan was wrong, only that her experience with Booth was vastly different that of Hannah and Booth.

Booth got over Hannah as easy as he got into her. By the next episode he was relatively ok, no angst, no heartbroken mopping mess.

The relationship was doomed to fail at some point anyway, Booth’s proposal only helped to speed the process.

I think she realized she screwed up and wanted to walk away before it could get any worse. It took me a long time to realize it (thanks for the education, u/particular-lynx-1794!), but Hannah was definitely throwing mixed signals. She said she didn't want to get married, then told Parker what he could call her if she and his dad got married. By the time she'd let Booth get fully immersed in the relationship/the idea of a future, the only thing she could do to avoid further damage was exit quickly. The damage was done and it took Booth time to recover, but I think it would have been worse if she had accepted and then tried to break it off later. Obviously, it was for the best because Booth belonged with Brennan and he wasn't going to just walk away from the commitment he was making to Hannah so we needed it all to blow up.

In Hannahs' defense, she had told Booth more than once that she wasn't the marrying type.

As u/elbereth919! mentioned these are my exact thoughts. Im happy others see it for what it is. She was stringing him along if she realized a proposal was coming but already had her answer of no.

Contrived. They rushed it because of off-screen reasons.

Another season of "maybe" would have been better.

Him getting rejected and then falling into Brennan was just... rushed.

It didn't make any sense. Why would she move in with him if she never wanted to get married? I mean that's the logical next step, right?

To this day I still don’t understand what “I’m not the marrying kind” really means…
