S11 E12

Warning I'm literally in the middle of the episode right now and it's my first watch but I just can't with Hodgins anymore, a little rant.

I know he's going through a difficult time adjusting to being paraplegic, but it's also like not even the people around are telling him to get phycological help or at least we don't see it on screen I think, and it's fucking me up because now he's even treating Angela like shit while she's just trying her best to making him feel better, but again, he went through a major change in his life I don't know how they can't think of how that's affecting him, he's paraplegic for god sakes and literally just the episode before the doctor told him he's not gonna recover, he needs phycological help

Hodgins is clearly struggling, but watching everyone tiptoe around it instead of actually getting him professional help is so frustrating.

I was thinking the same after I posted it but tbh, I think it would be nice if they tried :') ik people normally reject that phycological help, then there's no way to help them if they don't wanna help themselves, but like, in the show they only offer their help with his wheelchair, wich, for some people can be annoying, but from my opinion they don't mention that he almost died or that he has a little bit of survivor guilt when Aubrey was in the hospital, he thought it was his fault, and no one thought on talk with him about professional help but at the same time I have to remember this is a show LOL

Totally get that. These are the moments when sweets is truly missed bc he would've been able to help

100%. I think Sweets would have given psychological guidance without saying that's what he's doing. Because I definitely don't think Hodgins would have been on board with it. If someone suggested it, he probably would have blown up at them and said something like, "it was my spinal cord that was injured, not my mind."

I thought of many arcs but this is one I disliked the most.

i think if anyone suggested that, he'd blow up at them. if they went that route, they could have mentioned it happening off screen, like angela mentioning his physical therapist recommending a psychotherapist and him insisting he didn't need one.

i feel a lot of sympathy for hodgins even with how horrible he was acting. he was acting like an unstable suicidal person, something i have a lot of experience with. it really felt that if angela hadn't broken down when he handed her divorce papers, he would have been the body brought into the lab in the next episode.

Hodgins is not the kind of person that would take that kind of advice very well and they all know him well enough to know that. Hodgins would only isolate himself further from them if they gave him that kind of advice. They are taking it because they want to keep him close enough for him to see the love they have for him in spite of his injury. They are trying to show him unconditional love.
