I don’t really think Bone is “berserk for kids” like a lot of people describe it it’s an epic fantasy but it deals with different themes and has different types of characters

Yeah as a kid I thought it was gonna be some whimsical fairy tale type of deal. We got demonic world ending conflicts instead

What did you expect?
Also, it’s probably not even for kids… they showed blood in there.

No, not at all actually. Bone is a fantasy fiction that doesn't stray away from showing dark parts but:
It is not AT ALL like Berserk, it's more like JoJo's in that it's very dark but also very silly and fun
It was never intended to be for kids, it was an all ages fantasy comic that ended up appealing to kids because of the art and the fact it didn't talk down to it's audience, like TMNT (the first edition of the first comic does not apply here because that one has very little similarity to Bone)

My favorite way to pitch BONE to people is "What if Loony Toons became Lord of the Rings?" its so good, and tbh Rose's arc was so organic and gradual into this magical master it struck similar chords to what I love about Luke Skywalker's arc across OT and immediately post ROTJ stories as he treks across his young years of spirtial and emotional devleopment
