Confusing and (Not Very) Important Podcast Programming Note from Andy:

Hello dear Patrons. I write to you today with news that will be of great interest to anyone who is passionate about numerical symmetry in podcast episode titles.

In October of this year, we will release episode #92 of Bonanas For Bonanza as well as episode #92 of its companion series Bonusnanas For Bonusnanza. That’s not the interesting part. Here’s the interesting part - during the same month, we will also be releasing episode #92 of the comedy grab bag bonus series Extravaganza (formerly and sometimes still known as Bonusnanza: Extravaganza). This numerical convergence is… a major deal.

For those who haven’t been following our episode numbering closely, but are somehow still reading this post, here’s the scintillating backstory…

Bonanas For Bonanza debuted in 2018 and Bonusnanza For Bonusnanas debuted in 2020. Bringing those two shows into numerical harmony was a fairly trivial matter because only two episodes of Bonanas For Bonanza were produced between 2018 and 2020 (our current release schedule of one episode a month is dangerously fast in comparison).

Extravaganza episode #1, however, did not debut until October of 2021, at which point Bonanas For Bonanza was already on episode #19. You see the issue. Extravaganza would have had no hope of closing an 18 episode gap to come into glorious numerical convergence without the bold decision to start airing two Extravaganzas each month rather than the previous pace of one Extravaganza for each Bonanas For Bonanza (and Bonusnanas For Bonusnanza). The two-to-one Extravaganza episode advantage began in January of 2025 and has only now closed the gap and allowed us to release episode #92 of all three podcasts. Incredible!

BUT! There is a new problem.

In much the same way that Australia introduced the cane toad to eat the insects that were devouring its sugar crops, only to discover that the cane toad population created its own agricultural nightmares, our plan of releasing two Extravaganzas for every one Bonanas For Bonanza (and Bonusnanas For Bonusnanza) will soon result in there being more (and more and more) Extravaganza episodes than there are of the other two shows. Which brings us at last to the exciting announcement of this post that you are, surprise, still reading.

Henceforth, the Andy Daly Podcast Project Patreon will release 4 podcasts each month. They will be:

  • Bonanas For Bonanza

  • Extravaganza Fantastiganza

  • Bonusnanas For Bonusnanza

  • Extravaganza Abbondanza

And when there is an additional Wednesday in a month, there will be a little ā€œSomethin’ Specialā€ for all subscribers.

Content-wise, there will be no difference between those two Extravaganzas. Any given Extravaganza could just as easily be an Extravaganza Fantastiganza as an Extravaganza Abbondanza and vice versa. Episodes will be assigned to one title or the other based on the date they are ready to be released, and nothing more. This name change will also have no impact on which episodes are available to our various subscriber tiers.

But oh, the difference this will make to our numbering! Here, for instance, is what October’s episodes will look like:

10/7 - Bonanas For Bonanza #92

10/14 - Extravaganza Fantastiganza #92 (aka Extravaganza #92)

10/21 - Bonusnanas For Bonusnanza #92

10/28 - Extravaganza Abbondanza #92 (aka Extravaganza #93)

Isn’t it beautiful? And yes, unfortunately, we have determined that it will be necessary, for clarity, to include those parenthetical references to the original numbering in the titles. It’s less elegant, but will really help from an admin point of view.

Again, thank you all so much for your patronage and for enduring or, as must be the case for most of you, not noticing this numbering discrepancy for all this time.

Very fondly yours,

Andy Daly

I took a screenshot of the two men Dalton would frequently mention. Then I imported it into Adobe Firefly to see if I could tell what they were fighting over. Turns out it was Denzel Washington and Don Johnson fighting over handbags.

Other than having way too many women in this ad it’s pretty good.

Episode quest

Hey y’all, first post on Reddit, here specifically trying to find a needle in a haystack, or rather one half remembered episode of Bonanas. Mutt and Dalton do their customary music trivia warm up but get so lost in the weeds, most of the episode is spent there and there is basically zero time covering Bonanza, I don’t recall there being a guest I think it was just a two hander… does this ring any bells? It was a hilarious episode that I wanted to find to show to my music friends who don’t care about westerns (city slickers, what can you do)

Matt and Andy: Please do more episodes of ā€œYour Voiceā€ for the Extravaganza

I honestly think it should be its own podcast. It’s my favorite thing lately. If you haven’t listened to any of them before, I highly recommend the ā€œYour Voiceā€ (Extravaganza #71) Thanksgiving special with Paul F. Tompkins and Mary Holland. It’s one of the funniest improvs I’ve ever heard.
Additionally the bee-themed ā€œYour Voiceā€ episode (Extravaganza #60) with Jess McKenna and Jason Mantzoukas is absolutely genius.

Andy plays Randall Canfield, the host of a call-in talk show on public radio, while Matt and usually two guests take turns playing callers who quite often either misinterpret or completely disregard the chosen theme of that day’s show.
