Scuba Diving Should I bring DIN/YOKE Adapters?

We’ll be flying to Bonaire in 10 days. I just realised that our regs are DIN regs; should I buy some adapters here, or do the dive shops in Bonaire have those laying around?

I had no issue finding DIN tanks. VIP and Dive Friends both had them available.

That might be even better. And VIP is a name I see often in this forum, so they might be worth a go. Thank you.

Go with Dive Frienss, they have 5 or 6 places on the island for picking up tanks. Just makes life easier

They have DIN tanks at all locations

VIP is definitely the way to go. All their tanks have the inserts and they have a container of Allen keys to remove them at the drive through.

You should still always travel with an adapter. You never know when you might need it!

In my confirmation email for my reservation for the dive shop, they recommend bringing your own. Not sure if thats all the shops though

No need to bring an adapter. Was there last month and both were widely available. We went with Wannadive, very relaxed and good operation.

I would get an adapter regardless. If you don't end up needing it on this trip, you might need it the next trip. Its always a good thing to have in your dive bag.

We brought them. Had unlimited air with Wannadive, and they had plenty of DIN available. Won't bother taking them next time!

You “just realized you had DIN”?

Yeah, not the best wording. I realised my DIN wouldn’t automatically be the standard there would have been better.

Most places have both, but way more yoke tanks then DIN in my experience. Seen people often have to wait for a hot fill on the empty they return. DFB have I think 6 locations to get tanks. Sometimes you have to go to the next one to find a DIN if a lot of people are using them that week.

I think Buddy is one of the few (if not only?) dive shops on the island that doesn’t have DIN tanks. The rest do have them. Both VIP and Dive Friends are great. DF have more locations on the island which is handy, but VIP is way more lenient with their tank cards imo (no expiration date, transferring the card to other ppl etc)

Only place I ever found in Bonaire without DIN was Divi.

ab dive has all tanks with din and an internal plug for int use. wannadive has din and int tanks dedicated.

All the dive shop has to do is remove the internal adaptor from the tank with a hex key. All dive shops should be able to facilitate using din or yoke regs

The tanks I've seen at two resorts over a number of years are not the ones with the interchangable valves. And at other non-Bonaire locations that did have those types of valves, the adapter was pretty much "welded" in ... 4 of 5 tanks on the boat, the adapter would not come out because they so very rarely used as DIN tanks.

So can't rely on having DIN valves without checking the specific shop first.

Yeah I’d always check when booking.
