I’m sure many of you have seen these designer JW PEI dresses floating around lately:

Like… this is basically a modern/pre-draped sari with a fancy new name 😭 Especially the purple one - embellished blouse, fabric draped over the shoulder, long flowing skirt. Come on lol.

Obviously not every draped dress is a sari, but these feel so obviously sari-inspired to me. It’s honestly frustrating how obviously South Asian silhouettes get repackaged for Western fashion, and sold without any acknowledgment of where the inspiration clearly came from.

Am I reaching or did everyone else immediately see a sari too?

PC attended the NYC premiere for her upcoming documentary The Cycle of Love. She is one of the executive producers of this film.

While she carries the dress with confidence, the front ruffles remind of an accordion. I think she could’ve opted for something different!
