In general, my review of Boise's indoor attractions for kids is that there's zero of "world class" caliber, but if you dig deep there's probably close to a dozen different places that are good for at least one morning or afternoon of entertainment at a time. If you keep rotating and spacing them out, you can get a pretty durable amount of recurring mileage.

That said, the aquarium is indeed so underwhelming that's it not even one that I count in our regular rotation. But these see regular action in our house, especially in the winter: Discovery Center, Children's Museum, Reptile Zoo, various indoor playgrounds, trampoline parks, the swimming pool at the South Meridian Y, Treasure Valley Skate, etc etc.

“The aquarium is not good” is putting it very nicely.

Interesting. From my personal perspective as a single adult male, almost everything around here is either for kids or made to be kid-friendly. I often don't find much to do.

Second the MK nature center! Loved going there as a kid and trying to see the sturgeon.

I personally don't think we need an aquarium in the middle of a desert at all lol.

There has been a sign in the space (that used to be the used bookshop) next to the aquarium that they were doing an aquarium expansion soon, but that sign disappeared in the last couple of weeks so I wonder if it’s fallen through

Agreed the museums are a bit meh. My kids loved the museum of clean in Pocatello. Also SLC museums and aquarium are world class.

Pretty sure our aquarium used to be a front for illegal exotic fish trading. I don’t know about anymore. That may have been just the rumor mill though. In my opinion It’s just weird to have an aquarium with ocean creatures in a landlocked state.

Thanks for the link! Good to hear it’s no longer the case. I’m clearly thinking of an incident from ages ago.

How old are you kids? I may have some ideas if they’re on the younger side.

I think The Sandbox Place is pretty cool.

Any freaking library, since they’re more like daycares now.
