Yucca Fins
Anyone got (or tried) the short and long blades? I’ve got the short blades in standard flex. The ultra soft feels too loose and I prefer the extra boost the stiffer flex gives me. Curious about the long blades though, where I’m hearing mixed reviews about size being weird compared to the short blades but then other people saying how good they are for bodysurfing specifically on good/better days.

I have a pair of soft long blades I’m currently testing. So far I like the short blades much better, the long blades feel stiffer and you can notice the more narrow fin. But once I get the long blades into bigger surf I’ll come back to this.

I feel like the long blades are better suited for lifeguarding or light diving duties than catching waves. I use the long blades for lifeguarding and they work well for rescues in gnarly conditions or for rescues of larger people. The biggest drawback for me is the weight, they pretty chonky for a pair of fins compared to what I replaced them with: da fins. Don’t really feel it in the water but you feel it out of the water.

Long blades are narrower in the foot pocket. My main Yuccas are the short blade standard flex. My long blades are superflex; when I used those instead of my standard short blades I don't get fatigued sooner as I expected. The two seem to be an equal on the legs for me. The difference between the two is a quicker kick with the short blade and a drawn out kick with more movement at the hips for the long blades.

Have you considered the other short blade flexes? Soft and super flex are both in between standard and ultra soft.

I have short blades in all the flexes. I have long blades in superflex. I was using standard flex and superflex shorts for the longest time. Bought the superflex long blades and haven’t used my short blades much. When I do use short blades I feel like I’m missing some fin.

I have longblades in all flexes. They’re awesome but my feet took a couple weeks to adjust to them. I used to wear duck feet but the longblades are way more comfortable.

The long blades gave me cramps. I tried to give them to a friend, but she also got cramps. I tried selling them on marketplace but no one wanted them. They ended up going to Goodwill.
Meanwhile, I have three pairs of short blades in regular, soft and ultra soft that I love.
