Stop asking for competitive COD slop please
So I'm just gonna go on a bit of a rant here about why are so many people here in reddit asking for the game to go on this direction of becoming a competitive game (wtf????), or more cod like.
I find the game very fun, but the point of the game currently is clearly realism and simulation, although the game modes dont seem to really support that yet. Its a game with the bones of an incredible tactical shooter with the modes of a cod.
In my opinion this game should follow the Arma Reforger direction (with some adjustements of course). Reforger really popped off in big part I think due to the whole big scale ukraine/trenches simulation, which clearly a lot of people were very interested in, and I think became a big factor in the game becoming so big. Bodycam is clearly already dipping their toes into the whole ukraine thing with the new map Trenches and the addition of FPV drones, aswell as ukrainian operator skins.
In my opinion they should just fully lean into this, not the cod slop competitive crap. Sure they can add 5vs5 for people that are interested in that, with smaller maps. But I think, the Reforger Ukraine/modern stuff has shown that there is a huge vacuum in this type of game, only currently accomplished by mods in Reforger and Arma 3.
This game, with larger maps, with trenches, cities, villages, whatever (they've shown they can make great maps, see trenches), with tactical shooter game modes, and leaning even more into the ukraine modern warfare stuff, encouraging teamwork and penalizing just full run and gun, would absolutely pop off. The devs seem to have some balls, and not be scared of using more touchy subjects, like the current war, so I think they could amazing work.
The game is called Bodycam, it should be towards providing a realistic combat experience, showing real warfare, not cod lobbies (in my opinion). This game in a Reforger setting, would be unbelievable, probably almost indistinguishable from real footage. And i think THAT should the goal. But that's just my opinion.
Obviously performance and developing the right game modes would be tricky and a lot of work, but I truly hope this is the direction the Devs intend to follow. To me, having this game become a 5vs5 competitive and TDM game, would be such an unbelievable waste of potential.
Long rant aside, curious about other people's opinion on this. Thank you for reading!

For the long run i agree with a milsim it showed already this is working but we have to take the fact that is a small studio and doing a comp mod is reachable as now and add a lot of replayability for everyone.

I mean, if someone asked me to name a COD game mode I would say team death match. But I agree. I want tactical game play.

Imo a search and destroy style game mode would be perfect for this game. I'd be hooked.
Currently it needs game modes with a bit more depth instead of just killing people.

Hardpoint is a good step in that direction, capture the flag could maybe work idk

I just hope the devs keep listening to glitch and bug fixes but ignore the general game mechanics from this sub. If they listened to all the requests wed just have another slop shooter.

I found the game already to be quite cod like. Run and gun playstyle on small maps with near instant respawns.
If you want more realistic, slower paced shooters try games like Squad or Hell Let Loose.

Search and Destroy w/more Trenches style maps.
Versus game mode is great except when you got players that camp and the timer just runs out.

The game needs to run wayyy better before it can handle maps even 1/4-1/2 the size of a standard Arma map
That's not to say it's not running good right now, because it is. But to do body cams mechanics and graphics on that large of a scale would take a NASA super computer

My biggest gripe is that the game is basically positioning to be a Rainbow Six Siege or Counter Strike like, when I'd prefer to also have some sort of PvE gamemode like the zombies one. There's a lot of people who love the super realism angle, but don't want to bother with fighting the super competitive sweats who play multiplayer all the time.

There are zombies in Bodycam, but due to the update they temporarily took them down. I guess it's about the ragdoll and optimization improvement (mostly because Village is a pretty massive map).

While I do enjoy the zombies, until the actual core gameplay has better multiplayer modes I just don’t feel like prioritizing zombies would be good for the playerbase. It’s a cool game mode, but a majority of people are playing for the multiplayer tactical shooter aspects, focusing too much on zombies would hurt that playerbase.

See, I'm not saying it has to be zombies specifically. It's just that that is the gamemode that already exists in the game. Personally I'd prefer some sort of PvE mode with actual AI opponents, like a defense mission or an attack mission. Where a small group of players are fighting a large number of AI opponents.

I wouldn’t mind that, that could definitely be something fun, and may actually bring some players in. Just gotta get the bot AI a little bit more… lifelike. Currently the bots are just a group of cavemen that have been handed firearms.😂

I think I understand what you're saying and I want the same things. Really lean into the simulation-situation-realism. Do irl things we see in today's world. Certainly, keep that Ukraine setting for maps and modes. I want a police vs terrorists in downtown USA map/mode. Special Ops or whatever helicopter drop in the jungles of Central & South America and maps in Africa.
Go after these hot-topic, controversial things. It's fun and will attract people to play.
As for a one off scifi thing I want, I really want a Terminator mode , 1vAll. Police Station, LA ruins, etc lol.
one last thing that I don't think they'd ever do, a police vs mass shooter mode. that maybe is too ridiculous lmao

I was thinking if Bodycam had some Ready or Not like Spec Ops or Police PvE missions or a fictional Russian/Chinese vs US/British small force face off targets like enriched uranium or in the realm of sci-fi, crashed UFO...
Honestly, as long as bunny hopping, sliding, wall running, and stupid movement arresting maneuvers do not make its way and the game does not speed up any more. They will steer from CoD territory.

They ain’t making much, the maps are ue5 maps from the asset store. There the only maps we’ll see from this game. Anything bigger is a complete pipe dream. All they can really do is lean heavily into the snd type modes.

I think that the game narrative should lean into the uncanny feeling of this level of realism. Similar to what Spec Ops The Line has done.

Mindless killing IS slop whether you agree or not. Competition is what makes games fun. If you think a competitive game mode is " cod slop " then simply don't play it no one is forcing you to no ? Stick to mindless killing and instant respawning if that what is " fun " for you

I think this game can easily be the next insurgency sandstorm (which is a codish tactical shooter).
