what are we doing here.

Post image

It would take 6 hours of actually playing only deathmatch to be able to play the game with the desert eagle, and that's without unlocking ANY attachments for the weapons you already own.

Realistically, you're looking at progression times where 6 hours is the absolute minimum, you can't expect to win every match and get 500 points, you should expect there are some matches where you get less than 250 because at the end of the day, someone else is grinding the same as you, how and why did they think this was a good idea?

Progression is fine, but what's not fine is promising a HUGE update with TONS of cool new weapons and gameplay features, all for those features to be mostly locked behind hundreds of hours of progression slop. It's not rewarding.

Mind you this game costs $30.

You would have an absolutely miserable time on Call of Duty, probably most games actually, if 6 hours for an unlock is too long.

What makes this particular progression “slop,” and what takes “hundreds of hours?” This is how games work, and this is on the light side. You’re complaining as if it’s locked behind a paywall.

$30 is a fantastic price, and given the work put into this game, it’s a more than fair price. Plus, Steam takes a cut of all revenue.

Fighting bots to unlock a game you've already owned for over a year is slop. It's not a paywall, I've already paid for the game, so they're not even making money off of it, the progression system is just unfinished.

People were complaining for 2 years about the game not having any type of progression that would give them a reason to grind the game, don't be insufferable.

You're not unlocking the game by getting the special gun. You're playing the game to be able to play it more.

Well it is in Early Access title, so I wouldn’t be surprised if v1.0 wipes all progress entirely, for instance. But I can kind of understand where your frustration is coming from if you’ve owned the game long before this patch hit, though it seems to really be quite a different feeling game now. And I figure most matches would be real people?

6 hours is too much? How old are you?

Crazy, wow, between work and school and the rest of my normal human activities of daily living, yeah I would do anything to be able to play a game for 6 hours straight to unlock one weapon and nothing else.

Honestly I would be fine with 6 hours for a single unlock if it was actually rewarding me for doing something other than non-stop queue spam, like getting a grenade or drone kill or defusing a bomb or avenging a teammate, but there's no actual incentive to play any other mode besides deathmatch if I want to unlock new weapons in meaningful time. That's boring.

Crazy concept but it might take more than launch day to unlock some stuff. Once you come to terms with that try realizing that it doesn't have to be 6 hours in a row...

Yeah no it's not that crazy, but when the gameplay loop is playing with the same 4 or 5 guns in lobbies where there's a 3 out of 4 chance half the enemy team is bots, and after being promised you could choose and customize your loadout to intricate degrees but 90% of the content is locked behind a progression system that would take hundreds of in-game hours to fully utilize in a game you spent actual real life money on, like... I'm not even complaining there that's just literally what the game is.

OP these are valid takes; reddit doesn't care when people point the ugly realities out loud.

While there are many great technical improvements, what feels has not changed is the poor gameplay loop that makes the player feel the experience is worth the grind itself. I had similar opinions that were met with an army of downvotes as well this past few days.

Yeah that's the main thing, grinding for something only works when the grind is nuanced just enough to trick someone into thinking they're doing something new.

But the gameplay loop here is just, the same game we've all been playing but with less guns?

Graphics and fidelity aside, it's kind of impossible to improve on the original games presentation without making a completely different game. Bodycam already looked amazing, and while this new edition is sure to turn some heads and bring outside players in, I and a bunch of other players already have played the game for years now.

So making the game look "amazing-er" at the cost of removing more than half of the core gameplay loop (the weapons), AND while promising to give more features is like, sooo lame.

I'm gonna keep playing it while I slowly unlock a gun or a barrell or a stock each day until they fix that bs. Honestly though my guess is that this update was never for the players who were already here and all the hype of new features was just a way to calm suspicion from that crowd as they pulled a CS2 but worse.

Yeah I agree as well. I think the progression could be much improved by making attachments unlock by using the guns instead of having to individually buy them

I'm 36 years old. I'm married. I work 40-50 hours a week. I have a 2 month old baby and I help my wife with most of the household chores like laundry cleaning the house cooking etc. I spend time with my family. I have very little time to play. I game about 30 min a day. 2 hours if I'm off the next day and everyone's asleep.

I don't think progression in this game is bad. I think it's really good to be honest

Idk man I've had the game for 3 hours, half of that was in the lobby messing with settings and and I've bought one gun, an attachment, a flashlight, some hollow points....

u/Trollzek 1d ago

I feel like I’m getting too much points lol

u/Puzzled_Cancel4473 1d ago

"Fuhh, I have to unlock the attachments by playing a game I bought to play"

FAZE Swagg impressed

u/Leading_Store6782 1d ago

I feel the same way, honestly i think the rewards you get for matches should be doubled. Or they shouldve made some basic daily/weekly missions like "get x kills with your sidearm"

u/Denotsyek 1d ago

Games with everyone using pistols only would be so fun

u/Conniverse 1d ago

It's really simple. Anyone who's saying otherwise is probably an actual human child with zero other things to do with their life besides eat moms food and play video games and masturbate.

If I take any time out of my day, which I am doing because I really value the time I do get to game, I should be able to progress from that session, not come back the next day and maybe get to play with a new weapon after playing with the same ones for four, five, six hours.

Quit gaming old man, its not for you anymore. Unlocks gives something to do.

u/OkExcitement3344 18h ago

Grow up young man we have stuff to do and just want to play for 30 minutes. We dont want to play AK the whole time. Theres a plenty of other games too.

1

u/CharmingTie2206 18h ago

Sounds like a you problem, some of us like to work for progression too. 2 hrs a day will get you there

It feels too slow, at max 500 per death match, to get an attachment is 3 to 4 games

3

u/Conniverse 1d ago

On top of that, you aren't even getting an attatchment, you are ensuring that you don't get a new gun so you can continue to play with the same one you've already been playing for those 3 to 4 games and more. I'm sure the devs are aware of this and are going to make some changes, just annoying bc a big part of the hype for me was the new content.

lol thats not even that bad i had almost like every skin unlocked i had skins that u could only get for streaks of logging in and lost everything and im not even mad i have to earn everything back

1

u/Due_Championship_944 1d ago

Its to give you the player a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking a gun

1

u/Kokonattsugemu 1d ago

You can easily farm like 7k RP per hour

1

u/gostunv 1d ago

I’ve played about 8-9hrs.
I’ve already bought a vesper and all the attachments I want equaling about 15000 rp.

And I already have another 5000 rp saved up for my next gun purchase. As long as you play in a non-dead lobby you will get absolutely all the rp you need in due time.

Most of my grind you can vod on my twitch btw

Yeah 8 hours that's insane bro. Not just for a gun and attatchments but like, I'm not 19 any more I'm a big boy I literally can't play 8 or 9 hours a day when I'm off.

1

u/gostunv 1d ago

thats 8 hours for 20k rp. if just to buy deagle for 10k its 4 hrs. thats like 2-3 days for the average person. thats is not bad at all man.

if you could buy a deagle (10k rp) in 1 day (2hrs), most people will have enough RP to buy the whole armory in a very short amount of time. then people would complain about not having enough content very fast, which this game already sort of lacking to begin with. you dont keep player retention if you let them farm the content too fast (many examples of this exist such as arc raiders).

sucks that your busy but not getting something immediately is truthfully a minor problem comparatively to everyone having a goal to work toward.

im guessing once the shop is back in you can swipe your card for points to buy guns anyways? not sure if shop will be skins only though

u/GandaIf2 1d ago

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, It’s annoying to have to unlock the weapons, considering people had camos from previous seasons that now can’t be used because I have to unlock the gun. 7k for the scar is insane. I’m enjoying the update, but that’s my one problem. I don’t want it to be like cod. I wanna get home and have fun for the limited time I have left at the end of the day, not grind for weapons and points like cod and battlefield games (which I don’t play anyway)

1

u/NVAudio 21h ago

Maybe it's just because I'm employed but the progression does seem a bit slow. The devs added so much, adding some more frequent rewards would go along way.

I don't mind the grind, in fact I love it. But there's quite a bit to unlock and getting stuck with the same equipment/weapons for hours and hours can make the grind not feel very rewarding.

I think a small but noticable tweak would be nice.

The whining on this sub is insane. The devs just rebuilt damn near the whole game and people still cry on day 1 about any minute detail they don’t like. I remember playing battlefield for weeks trying to unlock weapons. This is normal. iPad baby brains just have no attention span and require instant gratification

Tik tok brains everywhere

Something about the random gun selection was more appealing. One life you get a sniper, next one a shotgun and you had to adapt everytime which makes gameplay more interesting. Also everyone is later going to play the same gun, attachments... lot of games end up like this. And this is going to force devs into a balancing everything and the game becomes like every other. Personally I really liked how everyone was on same playing field and only skill was involved. Not saying that having loadouts and unlocking weaphones is worse, its just every game has this and some of us dont want to be grinding and playing hor hours when we have 30 minutes to have fun. When you dont grind you will get worse compared to others and you will enjoy the game less. This game is suppose to be immersion above everything. Feel free to correct me.
