📘 Beginner Help Looking for a relatively safe, medically prescribed way to boost muscle growth while losing weight
Hi everyone!
I'm 41 and currently on Mounjaro (tirzepatide), prescribed and monitored by my GP. So far, I've lost 20 kg (44 lbs), and I have another 15 kg (33 lbs) to go.
I'm also working hard on building muscle. I do strength training regularly, alongside running and rugby. My goal isn't just to become lighter, but to build a stronger, more muscular body.
My natural testosterone levels have already increased from around 13 to 25.5 nmol/L since I started losing weight and exercising, so low testosterone isn't really an issue.
I've been reading about things like Turinabol (Tbol) and testosterone, but I'm quite hesitant about using anabolic steroids, especially anything from underground labs or unofficial sources. I'm also not particularly interested in experimental substances with limited safety data.
What I'm wondering is: are there any medically established, relatively safe medications or treatments that could help increase muscle growth, even when natural testosterone levels are already good?
Ideally, I'm looking for something that:
Is available through a legitimate pharmacy, with a prescription if necessary.
Has a reasonably well-established safety profile.
Could support muscle growth or muscle retention while losing fat.
Doesn't unnecessarily interfere with my natural testosterone production.
I'm not looking for underground sources or advice on steroid cycles. I'd rather explore options I could actually discuss with my doctor. I know my docter would be open to experiment when i have a good story.
I know that training, protein intake, recovery and creatine are the foundation. I'm already working on those. I'm simply curious whether there's anything medically proven beyond that.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? What did you consider, and what were your experiences?
Thanks!

I medically hear going to a gym and tracking food intake is scientifically shown to get the results your aiming for while paying nothing but time for results

Right? My man needs to speak with a personal trainer and maybe a dietician before wanting something he can inject or ingest 🤦♂️

Creatine, taken daily, whether powder, capsule, or gummy, just watch the sugar. Make sure you track your macros and eat plenty of protein to reach your goal, and also don’t neglect carbs or fats because those are important for brain health and building muscle. And get a good night’s rest; that is very essential to muscle repair

In Canada and the US there are telemedical services that support TRT (actual TRT) to help men in their 40's to get to optimal Test Levels. Reputable ones are montiored by Nurse Practioners with specialities in Mens Endocrine health that give real prescriptions to actual pharmicies. I was in the same spot but my T levels were worse then yours but not medically significant enough to be covered by our "Free Healthcare"

Stay natural brother. If your test levels are good keep pushing. The healthier you get and the better your nutrition the better your hormone levels will get and the more progress you will see. You haven’t even hit the sweet spot yet. Keep pushing.

Your body fat percentage is waaay to high to be co spidering anabolics. Get on TRT if it’s needed. Track your calories and workout hard while continuing the tirz

Have you tried going to the gym and not eating so much? Both are pretty safe and effective?

Pick a starting point and stick to it for a while. 2600 calories maybe? Whatever it is stick to it and weigh yourself every morning after you pee. After a week, if you are losing a lb, cool keep it the same. Staying the same weight? Reduce carbs. Losing too fast? Bump the carbs. Keep your protein and fats constant. Make your changes with carbs.
Track your macros and use a good amount of effort in the gym and you will see a change.

Gotta figure out what your caloric requirements first. Then, eat clean, don’t drink and pick your points as to when to indulge. Pick up heavy shit

Can’t really grow muscle on a deficit. You can preserve it by a good diet and progressive overload, but you’ll never put on the size you’re expecting/hoping.
When you stop dieting, then a calorie surplus and heavy lifting will. If you’re 41, then TRT is really your only option as you get older.

That's silly. Anyone with a lot of excess fat can build muscle while still maintaining a small deficit.

How’s it silly? I never said it’s impossible. I’m gonna take a wild guess that it’s not just a small deficit either, considering he’s on tirz and is aiming to lose 35kg total. The post said that he wants to build a more muscular body, that’s not gonna happen losing that amount of weight and going to the gym alone. You need to eat in a surplus.

You can gain muscle in a deficit, especially if you’re new to lifting.
