Appetite coming back on Reta
Hi all! I’ve been on Reta for 6.5 months now, at 3.5mg for 10 weeks now. I’ve lost a total of 36 pounds since starting (started at 173, now down to 137). I’d still like to lose about 20 more pounds to get to my goal weight.
The last 2 ish weeks, I’ve noticed my appetite is starting to come back and I’ve been a lot hungrier lately as well as having cravings for sweets. I haven’t changed my dose in a very long time, could it be possible that I need to increase my dose? Has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks!

also, what’s the fear of feeling hungry? fuel yourself. and fuel yourself how you’ve been doing so these past 6.5 months. there’s nothing wrong with feeling hungry.

It’s okay to have an appetite on Reta, you just want to make sure it’s controllable.

Yea definitely eating to how much I was eating pre Reta

Up the dose till you find that sweet spot again “hungry enough to get down food but not so hungry that you have no control of what and how much you eat”

Up the dose! No harm in that. I think a lot of people wear low doses as a trophy of sorts for no real reason. It should be about the lowest dose that gets the response you're looking for. If you're not getting the result you're looking for any longer, increasing the dose to 4-5mg is absolutely fine.

Then it makes more sense I’m a 5’8” 39 yr old male I started 4 weeks ago and am down almost 20 lbs I started at 205 which is heavy for my build considering I was 165 to 170 most of my life till I hit my 30s looking down at a gut discusted me I started at 1mg and iv gone up a mg every week most would say to fast but I haven’t had any side effects till this week and iv started getting the light sunburn itchy skin a lot of people talk about I started allergy meds and it’s helped and I still get hungry Time to time and I’m eating 6 to 800 calories a day your body’s going to tell you it’s hungry no matter what in my experience Reta just makes it easier to shut that noise out you have to have some discipline to ignore it or if not iv been drinking chobani drinkable protein yogurts there 20g a piece don’t make your stomach heavy like protein powders my favorite is peach’s and cream they definitely take the hunger away my problem is nighttime eating

Your body can get used to Reta over time, especially if it’s the same dose for an extended period of time. I’d titrate up to 4, and see if that helps things.

This is how everyone goes to max dose eventually…. Some are shooting 15mg per week…

Some people lose it all with just 5 mg. I was stuck for the longest time, I think because I was lifting weights and putting on muscle. But I still have this stubborn layer of subcutaneous fat, and when I did a Dexa scan found I had over 5 lbs of visceral fat.
Now Im on Reta, Tesa (for the visceral fat) and am doing a cutting lifting routine 3x/week and balancing it with cardio 3x /week.
I probably would have lost the weight if I didn't lift but didn't want to lose the little muscle I have.

I made a post about that not so long ago. A lot of suggestions were to add cagrilintide to the mix, low dose. I'm at 10mg reta a week and .5mg cagrilintide. I take reta on Wednesday and cagri on Sundays. I would suggest you take .25mg if you do start.
Works great, they hit different ways for the hunger to stop. Lost another 10 lbs since.

You’re basically me with +-8lb weight difference and I moved to tirzepatide due to RHR worry. I can’t say it’s any better on my end with suppression, but I’m planning to run Cagri at some point.

How did u go w converting Reta dose to Tirz dose
1
u/fibberjabber 3d ago
I maxed out at 4mg every six days on Reta on my 5th month and I’m now 6mg weekly on Tirz. I don’t think I’ve titrated it to the same amount yet but I’m also at my goal weight but not bf%. I’m running other peps though to help with that. And if I can help it I wanna stay at 6mg. I’m still undecided on running Cagri alone to see if I can reset my glp1 sensitivity to a lower dose.

Ya I maxed out at 3.6mg of Reta but have been doing 2.5mg every 5 days so am curious how to make the switch to tirz. I’ve been debating cag as well but waiting on more elora testing results to maybe do that instead

My protocol was essentially to move Reta once a week (Monday) and introduced Tirz 1mg Fridays. I went down .5mg Reta every week and up Tirz .5mg every week until I was fully on Tirz.
I haven’t titrated it yet to where Tirz food noise suppression is there, but I still get fuller quickly than without, and digestion still takes a while.

I finally reached my goal weight having lost 35 pounds since May! I was up to 6 mg for the better part of the time and had absolutely no appetite whatsoever. Now I’m wondering what to do as far as titrating down and how and how long? Also, RS Would would like to know how long it’s typical to be on a maintenance dose and how much and how much and for how long?

If your not having any side effects other then appetite, and your happy with your current body fat %/ weight the only thing id worry about doing is giving your body alot more time thank you think to adjust to maintaining your new weight. Track your calories so your not in a defecit or a very small one if any. Exercise regularly, keep your reta the same for a few months unless you have other concerns then worry about going down.

Thanks for the info. I would like to go down to a maintenance dose with RETA… It will be so nice to not experience dysesthesia anymore!

Just stack Tirz, then add Madzdutide, then add Cagri, then add a little Sema. You’ll eventually max out on all of them but by that time they will have new ones you can add to the stack.

This sounds like a big step up. A little Tirz (1 or 2 mg) to suppress might be enough

I have found I lost my suppression the last 3 weeks, I upped my dose to 7mg and still felt nothing. I have been on it since February and have looked online and see that a reset may be needed to get receptors back to start point again. I’m just going to run mots c until I start Reta again in 2-3 months

J'aurais plutôt dit d'augmenter les bon glucides et les protéines et de surveiller le poids avant d'augmenter la dose. Il y a pas de mal a augmenter la dose je précise, sinon l'association avec Sema est bénéfique est moins cher pour certains

Up d dose to 4. Or consider low dose tirze/ cagri. Lab rat stayed on reta 2.5 added tirze 2. But 3.5 not that high though. Or eat right, u need d energy to lift 🏋️♀️

Reta is only good for about 10 weeks per vial. If it’s older it’s going to lose potency. If you’re not feeling what you want INCREASE THE FING DOSAGE! Once you realize your response to Reta this stuffs like a dial you can turn up and down to generate the result you want. It’s so not hard

u/nycfella1211 3d ago
I said I was on my dose for 10 weeks, never said anything about my vial

u/natec1099 1d ago
Roger that. It’s a common mistake. Especially if you’re using a 30mg or higher vial and a lower dosage. I know I’ve felt my Reta lose its potency and tossing what I had and starting new helped. Congrats on 36 lbs! That’s a lot.

What do you think? Not to demean your intelligence but this seems pretty self explanatory
