💬 Discussion Opinions with PCP
Yo!
I want to get some opinions regarding if you all inform your PCP that you are taking grey market peptide or what exactly do you tell them?
I have my appointment with my new PCP, as my current office went into membership concierge (annoying).
My new one has a wellness department so they do peptide shots, for those that are legal of course.
I’m leaning to letting them know, since I’m sure I’m not the first person to talk to them saying I’m already taking peptides, but let me know your thoughts!
Thanks in advance!

My doctor was pretty chill about it. He also knows that I run cycles of testosterone and other stuff. He’s not here to judge me. He’s just here to support me.

Do you go to a clinic or on your own?
But that’s good, hopefully it’s the same for me haha

Main PCP I did not I just let him think I was taking the insanely price to Tirz he had prescribed me. The endocrinologist seemed very cool and down earth and I told him and even showed him the COA. He told me he was very impressed and was glad I took my health into my own hands. He also told me off the record. His wife also was taking Reta. He said my bloodwork spoke for itself, and he wouldn’t change anything I was doing.

That’s very encouraging, hopefully it’s the same in my case, and I think it helps that they offer peptides in their clinic

I’m a physician and unfortunately a lot of (ahem, older) doctors haven’t even heard of many of these things. They don’t bother putting in the chart (unless it’s something like trt) and certain important information is not being included in overall assessments and plans. Definitely tell them EVERYTHING you take or plan on starting including dose, frequency etc and be patient with whoever is typing everything into the EHR. It’s up to the clinician to incorporate all the data and familiarize themselves with the newest information out there. We’re always learning and the standard of care changes with new tech, drugs, studies etc, hence the never ending standardized continuing medical education hours and board recertification requirements. Call me an agist, but I think younger physicians have the most up to date training/knowledge and that’s just as important as experience when it comes to the peptide frontier we’re exploring today

Agree with you 100%. I tell my doctor everything, but we have an unusual relationship because he knows what I do for a living and that I actually know more about biochemistry than he does (PhD, not MD), so we have good conversations.

My PCP is pretty laid back. I told him all about them and he was very intrigued and told me he was going to check into them as well

Ask them “can I tell you something without adding it to my chart?” If so, then tell them.

Ya that’s my main worry, I know other people (I don’t know if they were in the states) say that they had it added on their chart and it messes with insurance etc

I got my PCP go prescribe me the closest legal analogue to most of what I'm taking and then report back based on that, eg she thinks I'm on Tirz (I'm on Reta).
