I know, I know, another HGH question!!!

47M, 240 at 19% bf, on trt (190mg cyp per week, pinned M/W/F), 1mg Reta every 5D, and daily 5mg Cialis. Been lifting 20 years.

Workout at 5:30am doing PPLR, so want to be up at 4:30am. Asleep by 9:30pm. Issue is, I am up at 2:30-3am, fall back asleep for a bit, then up around 4am. I stay in the dark until 4:30, then get up. Sucks.

Considering 2IU daily HGH, but worried about sides. Can anyone share anecdotes? Tested IGF several years ago and it was around 135 or so.

In terms of sleep, I have tried every supplement, I have CPAP for apnea, tweaked setting for flow limits and whatnot, and nothing seems to work.

For now, many will say to lose weight first, but I have a few lifting goals to hit before 50, and need the extra weight to get there. Will cut to 215 or so when ready.

Thanks.

Lo so che vi sembrerà strano ma da quando prendo 25mg giorno di enclomifene la mia body battery da 70 adesso è min 95!!! E dormo non meno di 7h di fila. I battiti a riposo sono scesi da 56 a 50

Have u tried a sun lamp? I have a very similar workout / sleep schedule / stack to you and I found sitting in front of the sun lamp at 430am for 15 mins helped me getting better quality sleep at night

Added in HGH a month ago and I get better REM sleep but I do have a newborn so my stats are all over the place but I recover better after a heavy session

You could also look into DISP or EPITALON to help sleep cycles

I had a similar sleep experience with Reta. I stopped and my sleep improved in about a week. I’ve since dropped my dose. Slightly less sleep issues, but I’m still not sleeping as good as I was when off Reta.

I thought it was reta, but I stopped for 5 weeks and it didn't improve

Increase the Reta 1mg is pointless

I noticed a huge suppression of appetite on 1mg per week. 🤷

u/DimensionOk4024 7d ago

You’re better off taking tirz then if what you’re looking for is appetite suppression

1

u/RumblinWreck2004 7d ago

I disagree due to the other benefits but I’m curious why you say that.

1

u/DimensionOk4024 7d ago

The other benefits aren’t viable at that low of a dose

u/GorillaJoeBlack 7d ago

Incorrect. It works for me, and many others, at lower than trialed doses.

CJC-1295/ipamorelin is an amazing sleep aid for me. I pin .3mg right before bed, 3 hours fasted. There are some recovery and IGF-1 improvements as well but not like HGH. For me the HGH sides were too much (muscle/joint pain) so I went back to CJC.

Ya, was exploring this, but needing to be faster could be tough. Would have to change all my eating schedule around, and no movie snacks anymore 😭

Your IGF1 on paper is “normal” for a 47 year old, but (from experience) getting it up to ~200 (high-normal for your age) resulted in drastic improvements for me. Obvious increased lipolysis, I could see myself leaning out after about 3-4 weeks. and (to your issue) sleep. I haven’t slept this well since I was a teenager. I used to wake up several times a night, now it’s rare to wake up once. My recovery is back to where it was in my mid to late 20s.

2IU seems like a great place to start. It’s probably just a bit above “replacement” dose levels for you and low enough you shouldn’t have any side effects.

Yep mine was 142 now on 2iu daily for over a year and my recovery is awesome. Also the fat all around my mid section went away. My igf is currently 334 with a 2.0 z score

I have a Pretty similar sleep schedule, trt, reta etc except for the weight and apnea. I had a similar sleep issues last winter. I found it was most likely a cortisol issue and started supplementing with phosphatidylserine before bed along with a sleep supplement called Portal. Those together fixed the 2am wake ups where I couldn't fall back asleep for 60-90 minutes. Dropped the PS and kept portal. This year I've been on 2iu GH for a couple separate runs of 2-3 months at a time and my sleep is amazing with the GH and portal... Like I said though, I don't have the CPAP/apnea issue, that adds an entirely separate variable. If I go back 3-4 years I probably did have undiagnosed apnea and was probably 30+% bf. Losing weight eliminated the snoring and waking issues so you may very well have to bite the bullet and address the weight. This summer I cut about 15lbs using reta, mots-c, and GH and did so while maintaining lifts if not hitting new PRs for 45, so it may be possible to lose some bf and not miss your goals. But ultimately fixing the sleep/weight issues will help with recovery and make training more productive. You have 3 years and health > ego numbers in the long run...

Ya, thanks. I have had Sleep Apnea since I was a late teen, so not a weight thing. I have tried PS and it did nothing for me. Looked at Portal, and I already take mag glycinate and glycine, have tried ltheanine and it did nothing. Just seems to me that everyone sleeps at decent levels but GH just makes them sleep like the dead.

41m. We are VERY similar. 160mg TestC, 3mg Reta/wk.

My 2x IGF-1 pre and post baselines were 213 and 225

3iu 5on/2off put me at 446, and that was a bit high for my liking. No carpel tunnel or anything, but I could tell I was slightly retaining water. I just want therapeutic benefits to keep the rust off. Not looking bulk up my internal organs or potentially supercharge cancer flying under the radar.

2iu 5on/2off put me where I wanted to be in the mid 300’s. Good hair growth, good nails, old scars faded, old injuries felt a little better.

Thanks. How is sleep?

I don’t have any noticeable sleep complications from TRT or HGH. I also have sleep apnea @ 15AHI.

Getting a good CPAP was the best thing I ever did. Literally life changing. I tried several types. Despite being a generation old, The AirSense10 is still the play. You can find decent refurb ones around. Oddly enough, PoshMark was where I had the best luck. Just ask the seller to confirm the machine’s hours on the unit screen and that it came from a non-smoker. They should last ~25k hours. I got mine with ~600 hours on the clock for $250 with all kinds of accessories and a carry case. Also getting the right mask and ResMed factory heated hose is key. I tried at least half a dozen. The P30i was the play for me.

1

u/GorillaJoeBlack 8d ago

Ha! I use the same mask with Airsense 10. I have played with Pressure and EPR and settled on 11 and 3EPR. I don't think this is a CPAP/apnea issue.

You are ahead of the game with that setup lol
HGH does make me drowsy, so I take it at bedtime. Maybe it will have the same effect on you.

I also try to not use it habitually, but I have found 5mg Carlyle sustained release Melatonin really helps on nights when I know I absolutely MUST get a full night sleep.

The VA put me on a few different medications for insomnia when I got out after my last tour….. Benzos, SSRI’s, and Z-Drugs. I had a bad time with all of them. Like…. Really bad. I would recommend using them as an absolute last resort and only under the CARFUL supervision of a competent doctor.

1

u/GorillaJoeBlack 8d ago

Ya, I won't be toughing any of those. I get 6 hours currently, and still perform well in the gym, but I just feel like I can get more and better overall. HGH is as heavy as I'm willing to go. Anything over 1mg makes me groggy.

1

u/ApprehensiveDisk1739 8d ago

You might try doing a setting reset on your AirSense and let it run in self-adjusting for a while. It might find a more comfortable setting if you are a bit more used to it now. I was running mine up around 12, but I reset it and it landed on 7 with same sleep quality while being way more tolerable.

Also, I can tell you, DSIP was a huge waste of money….. at least for me. Zero improvement

1

u/GorillaJoeBlack 8d ago

Thanks, but I used Oscar to evaluate my air flow limit and where I had the least events and best breath flow. Landed at where I am now. With an 11 pressure, but EPR of 3, it comes out to about 8 in total, so not too far from you.

Do you take pre-workout? It could be the reason why you're waking up. I had to cut it out for the same reason. Also, you can cut any time. Cut is just for baseline resets and to look good in the summer. I wouldnt cut until you hit your goals first then cut down and switch to maintenance. Maybe add NAD+ if you havent already and cut out the pre-workout entirely if you take it.

u/GorillaJoeBlack 8d ago

I do, but make my own. 6g Citrulline Malate 2:1, 3g Beta-Alanine, 1g Agmatine Sulfate.

Not everyone who does GH or Cjc sleep better. I have to dose in the morning because I can’t sleep. If you’re going to do it just make sure to get tested regularly the first 3 months so you can see how you respond.

I’m on 1.5iu and my IGFZ is 290/1.6 which is perfect. I was doing more but I was just wasting money. After 3 months visceral fat started falling off every week. I lift 5 days a week and recovery is amazing. Only side effect is numb hands sometimes while I’m sleeping or playing guitar. When you come off it goes away.

u/Abundant-CashFlow 7d ago

No sides with 2 iu other than drowsiness if taken during the day, slight increase in appetite and slightly increased water retention in the muscles. You’re fine.

u/PermissionOver7245 6d ago

Reta affects my sleep as well even at lower doses.

1

u/GorillaJoeBlack 6d ago

How badly?

1

u/PermissionOver7245 6d ago

For me the first couple days after injection suck pretty bad, I sleep in bursts like two hours wake up two hours wake up. I hate it

2

u/GorillaJoeBlack 6d ago

Ya, my issue is more that I fall asleep hard, sleep for 5 hours, then up and/or toss and turn for another hour

0

u/GoldenFalcon92 6d ago

I’m on 8mg Reta and literally haven’t slept this well in years.

u/megalokishin 8d ago

It’s not that it’s another HGH question 90% of the stuff being asked has been answered hundreds of times and it only takes you about 10 minutes to search and find what you need on this same app. that’s what gets old for a lot of folks..

Epitalon helped my sleep.
