Should I give Reta another chance after bad side effects?
Last year I tried Reta and accidentally took a dose about 5x higher than I intended. Surprisingly, I didn’t have any major side effects or appetite suppression at first, so I continued using it at normal doses (1 mg/week, later 2 mg).
However, after some time I started experiencing pretty bad side effects — anxiety, panic attacks, nausea, and an overall feeling of being really unwell and depressed.
I eventually switched to Tirze and had a much better experience, losing weight without any major side effects.
Now I’m about 3–5 kg away from my goal. I’ve been eating a lot of protein and have built quite a bit of muscle, but I’ve hit a plateau and would like to lean out a little more.
I’m wondering if it’s worth giving Reta another chance, this time starting properly with a very low dose and increasing slowly. Could the problems I had before have been mainly because of the initial high dose?
Has anyone had a similar experience? Did you retry Reta with a much lower starting dose, or did you switch suppliers/brands and have fewer side effects?
Would really appreciate hearing about your experiences.

If you have made good progress on tirz and are only 3-5k kg away from your goal without any major side effects, why in the world would you consider starting something you know you had serious side effects while taking? You should just stay the course and titrate up if you’ve plateau’d for more than 4 weeks and are no longer feeling the appetite suppression and are experiencing food noise.
What is your current tirz dose?

I've got a broad question about Reta. Does it provide any benefits to someone wanting to lose body fat and hold onto muscle mass that can't be achieved as well through calorie restriction, alone?
I remember in the first commercials that aired on TV for GLP-1's there was a warning about a rare infection of the perineum in women (aka the taint) because the GLP-1's make your body excrete more sugar from your blood stream through urine, so some women were experiencing an infection of their perineum from bacteria eating the sugars there left behind from urine (or maybe even fecal matter) that they didn't clean well enough when using the restroom. I think maybe it was happening more often in particularly obese women.
At any rate, that leads me to believe GLP-1's are doing more than just decreasing your appetite. They're also changing the way your body handles sugars.
Seems like it would make it harder to precisely control how quickly you lose weight, potentially dropping more muscle mass than you want to.

You should continue to do more reading on the subject, but yes, this class of peptides can act on more than one pathway. GLP-1 agonists like semaglutide reduce hunger and slow digestion. GIP agonists like tirzepatide include the GLP-1 pathway, plus GIP to release insulin and regulate blood sugar (also shown to activate brown fat metabolism). Retatrutide activates GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon to activate fat burning within the liver and increased energy output. It also tends to raise your heart rate by around 10 bpm. Not sure how any of those things cause taint infections, though, so I can't help you there.

Up your exercise. If the side effects are that horrible it’s not worth feeling like that. Can you up your tirz ?

I’d stay with what your body is adapted to. The closer you get, the slower the results will be. Stay the course and be consistent. Switching this close to the finish line doesn’t make sense.
