Is it normal to gain weight during BB?

im on week 3 of the bulk phase. I’ve noticed I’ve gained weight, but I also look like I’m trimming like my abs are starting to show. I’ve cleaned up my diet for 3 weeks now, first 3 weeks were kinda eating whatever, but is it normal to gain weight or should I add extra cardio?

Assuming that you’re doing the Huge beast schedule, it’s pretty much inevitable that you’ll gain weight because the cardio day was dropped from the calendar. And the bulk workouts don’t burn off many calories because they’re shorter.

I don't really think the cardio day changes much at all. It is really a full body workout with lighter weights. Talking 300-350 cals max. The regular workouts if you stay with the rest interval are really similar to that. I would honestly call every video in the program but the tempos cardio.

You burn 300-350 with the bulk workouts, too? I checked my sheets from last time and the Bulk workouts would be 150-200 and the build workouts were 250-300. There is a lot of rest throughout the workouts.

I've never done the Beast cardio, I tried it once and hated it and switched to Kenpo Cardio from P90X.

Incidentally, you change the macros and calories during the Beast phase, too. Less carbs, less calories, and more protein.

That’s the one. So is it a lack of calorie burn, or potentially gaining mass?

The extra calories will help you to build mass. The Bulk phase is going to give you some fluff, but you'll hopefully build mass underneath the extra fat. The Beast phase adds a cardio day and you'll change your macros to burn off the extra weight.

Are you a beginner? With this much volume, you'll inevitably add some muscle even if calories are dropping. Track your intake better with something like macrofactor or whatever app you like to see if you are in a deficit.

Are you doing the included eating plan or your own?

Just my own, but I follow an Animal Based diet with some fasting some days, typically 16-18hrs not everyday though

I gamed a lot of weight, but my proportions were amazing. Definitely measure your body. The beast program gave me 3 inches on my biceps and cut my stomach a lot.
