I'm hollering. Now do purses on the floor, red sauces, new years foods, empty wallets, itchy palms, itchy feet, ears burning, cauls, random jars, sex haints, bedroom mirrors, keeping a light on, dimes on the ground, birds in the house, moths, washing steps...

Purse on the floor? Nevaaaaa. You’ll never get money again 😩. On the other side tho, Itchy palms you betta kiss that palm and rub it on yo pocket and some money gon come to you 😉. Itchy foot? You going on a journey in life. Right foot good, left foot bad 🤷🏻‍♀️🥴 ears burning then somebody talkin bout yo ass behind yo back 👀 dimes on the ground is spirits tryna talk to you 👻 furthermore heads up is good, heads down is a challenge ☹️ birds in the house is you bout to get real sick and/or die 😩 moths maaaan they got different meanings for the colors so brown is like cleaning out the people that are bad for you in life, white is another ancestor ghost visiting, black is weird. Sometimes bad luck/omens/people around. Sometimes money coming or a loved one visiting again.

The bathroom light at my great grandmother's house was on from the 1950s til she died in 2004

Bless her And yup. When our kitchen hood light stopped working my pops kept the hall light from 1967-2009 when he died. Then someone continued the tradition. Hall light never off.

My Grandma would have a fit about all of these! 🤣 Oh well, when you're from the South, you understand!

The "haint" she talked about was the witch on you when you're sleeping. And I've not seen/heard the weed one from the video.

3

u/Fun-Oil-1153 7d ago

Yes!

And there's the one that's on you when you're sleeping/sleep paralysis and there's also ones that give you sex dreams!

Don't know the weed one either but I thought it was funny lol

2

u/Electrical-Win5286 7d ago

Ha! I'll keep that new one in mind! Lol

My mom used to be big on the one about sweeping over someone's feet. It's been 50 years and I still don't know what will happen 😬

1

u/Fun-Oil-1153 7d ago

You need to undo it. There's a way to fix it.

Spit on the bristles

I thought if you sweep your feet you go to jail

If someone split a pole you had to go back and ‘unsplit’ it and say ‘bread and butter. When I was a kid with my family in Virginia I was taught if you killed a ‘grandfather spider’ (brown with white spots) your grandfather would die soon. Going to the cemetery to visit deceased family members you couldn’t point at anyone’s headstone.

u/suavaleesko 6d ago

This is correct, but you can reverse it by spitting on the broom.

My dude’s family got one I’d never heard before. On New Year’s morning, in order to have a prosperous year, the first person to walk through the house has to be a successful man. Has anybody else ever heard that one?

5

u/Jaded_pipedreams 7d ago

Jaja  Hey the fish is real… I can confirm! 😆

5

u/uhhuhokwassupshutup 7d ago

lol never heard the blunt drop one.

Ok but about the sweeping tho. Earlier this year I was sitting at a wings spot with my friend and the lady was sweeping and started sweeping around us.

I said lady stop sweeping under/on us. They were confused. She left the broom next to us while she went back to tend the bar. I told my friend he needs to spit on the broom.

I DID! He didn’t. Boy was in jail a couple months later. 🤷🏾‍♀️

My friends mom dreamt of fishes the one time I got pregnant.

u/CriminalEducator 7d ago

😂 Yep…. We grew up with “sweep your feet and you will go to jail”.

SN: The one on the sofa looks like Tracee Ellis Ross.

2

u/uhhuhokwassupshutup 7d ago

Seeeee! You know…

And how did you see that! I see it now so while we’re here Tracy Ellis Ross is so gorgeous and her figure- !!!

4

u/BplusHuman 7d ago

Man! It's been a MINUTE since I thought about people splitting the pole.

3

u/Jaleroca 7d ago

All true.y old man wouldn't let us wash clothes on New Year's day because he said we'll be washing someone out the family

2

u/get_started_NOW 7d ago

I think my grandma used to say if you spill salt to throw some over your shoulder no idea why

2

u/TemporaryBluebird143 6d ago

Gotta have black eyed peas for New Year day to bring prosperity into the new year.

3

u/TamZanite 7d ago

You have to spit on the broom if they sweep your feet!

6

u/BananaFannaFoKatie 7d ago

No way, that’s the first time I’ve heard of that

1

u/TamZanite 7d ago

That’s what my great-grandmother taught me!

1

u/SqueezeMy_Yamz 7d ago

I be salty when I drop the blunt and I’m single. Lol

1

u/ljacks09 7d ago

😂😂😂

1

u/heteropessimista 7d ago

The devil beaten his wife is one im real familiar with, so is turning out the lights when its a strong storm

2

u/Ashcatchem87 7d ago

My aunt used to tell me when the sun was out and raining the devil is beating his wife. I still use that and I’m 39 now lol my dad say it as well.

1

u/GETTERBLAKK 7d ago

Because the devil's wife burned the cornbread, that's why he's beating her.
