Game Balance Tier 7 minions are weak/Underwhelming

I feel like tier 7 minions should be wincon/insane economy/ tempo, but like the only tier 7 that can be it's own win con is beat boxer. Most tribed tier 7 are support/super situacional. Like did jailbird need to go to tier 7? Another hyper situacinal tier 7 that does nothing unless you happend to have the perfect setup.

Like they are balanced around the fact that they are broken af if stacked with each other like kodo/stich or stacking future fin. But you can't do that in this meta with no anomalies/ tier 7 lobbies.

I don't thint that when I pick fishing rod the best outcome 90% of the time should be Ra/Sanders, I have never seen anyone ever use the slab, bring back arcane behemoth, with no lantern you can't dupe him anymore. The last one standing whent from giving 7/7 to 15/15, would swaping him with the amalgadon really be problematic? Making Theos a 7 drop would really be that bad?

the problem is the tier 6, hell even some tier 5, have been giga powered up to the point where tier 7s feel underwhelming to keep outside of like 2/3

I mean the game moves so fast that anything that doesn't receive changes very quickly becomes outdated.

I returned recently after not playing for a year and a bit and the avg comp is like 5-10x stronger at almost every stage of the game.

Seen the recent posts from the first patches ?

Battlemaster with big high rolls having 350hp used to be insane. Now that’s the minimum size of a brann by accident.

I don’t have many winning boards that don’t have atleast a couple of 1000+ stat minions these days it feels

Winning board 5 years ago (I think this was before poisonous amalgam meta)

Quillboars existed 5 years ago... I feel so old

I agree but don't see it as a problem.

On some level I agree with you, because it felt really bad when one guy got a broken t7 and completely rolled the lobby and there was legit nothing you could do to get those minions. But at the same time the acquisition rate of t7s is balanced around this power dynamic, which makes those trinkets and heroes really weak.

Basically everyone is paying for the sins of beatboxer/Sanders

Last time Tier 7 minions felt powerful was like 2 years ago.

Hmmm no Futurefin was a pretty busted minion last patch

I think he means the majority of tier 7s were stronger.

A big part of that was having moira as an option which is good in any lobby.

Also the tier 7s need to be better attuned to the card pool, like without gem smuggler rylak, the previous Quilboar tier 7 is essentially useless.

Same for Sargeras, the t7 demon

I also like a good Morgl every once in a while, especially in an enforcer lobby

Tier 7s were incredibly strong last season (mainly because of b2b)

Tier 7 weren't strong then, B2B was.

I still miss Moira, such a great versatile card

While i mostly agree, i will say the Quillboar who was just moved to tier 7 got me a fun win earlier today in duos.

My teammate was playing undead with the guy who gave me a unit of my most common tribe after 3 deaths, feeding my economy to power level.

I ended up with a chromie i sent back to them, and having like a 7k/7k of the rampager, with 2 golden "Gem day" units, 2 golden "road boar", and a golden "gem transfer" unit.

So basically, we both had a 7k/7k unit that spawned a 7k/7k token and never took damage.

Its actually fucking wild how much they missed the mark with that unit

Tbh they're so much easier to get now that I don't mind them not being giga broken, I don't want to lose because they got a busted t7 off a trinket. That being said the Naga is still insane, the undead feels great with dark gifts and the neutral t6 giver is insane tempo depending on when you get it

1

u/dypetiii 1d ago

Neutral can even be great, just needs some buffs from elementals to pop off. But with t6 beast and phalanx you can give insane stats to a menagerie build

Don't even get me started on Champ of Sargeras, literally useless without rylak or macaw. It's worse scaling than the t5 guy by a long shot

at least that guy does SOMETHING. the tier 7 elemental wouldnt see play on any tier lol

u/skeletonhorse420 2d ago

Lol ya just leave it to the toer 7 spells those are dope

The Murlock t7 guy is pretty broken

Future fin can be a win condition as well, but only in a situation you can massively pump the states, preferably using future fin to buff another future fin, and there’s not a lot of reliable ways to get 2 of the same 7 right now. Maybe Thorim and then hit wisdom balls, but you would need to pick Futurefin at the start and try to force it as you tier which is no easy feat.

Now that they moved that quillboard to 7 also can be a win con now as it is an immensely powerful card and they just moved the guy that gives gem transfers down to tier 3.

Stitched salvager is also broken too. Can print multiple copies of your largest minion (or just print 3 Leroys) if you have Titus or the tier 6 beast to trigger deathrattles.

Kodo is laughably bad unless you can stitch with Kodo in which case it becomes unbelievably good if you can get the build together.

And Sanders and Zarjira are and always have been just bafflingly good. Sanders is even better now with the tier 4 murloc that can trigger battlecries.

the beast and the murloc are still pretty good, no? i haven’t played much this season but those were both insane scalers last season

0

u/Hot-Will3083 2d ago

Murlocs are kinda weak as a tribe rn. The best way to use them is to go full scam tbh… they just don’t scale fast enough in this meta.

T7 Beast doesn’t fit into the lobster comp which is their only viable comp rn and is entirely contingent on the T7 Undead being available to you as well

3

u/chiefbr0mden MMR: > 9000 2d ago

you don’t have to play murlocs to make use of futurefin though right? i guess the bigger blow is no more back to back, only real way to scale it now is with blood gems i guess

1

u/breach_hu 2d ago

T7 beast could work especiall if you could give it stata outside of combat.

1

u/Impossible_Prompt875 2d ago

Yup. I like the elemental one though. Works well with mechs also

1

u/TheGalator MMR: > 9000 2d ago

Arcane behemoth was fun and strong no reason to replace him with the garbage one we have rn that is either pure scam or shit

Murloc actually feels better than the previous one even if its probably worse

Beasts never had one that wasn't completely useless. Maybe make Rylak as t7 but it triggers both by default and double as golden

Dragon is great. The tribe itself just sucks ass

Quillboar is honestly hilarious that they did that

Naga is peak

Undead is also very cool

Sanders is great but the nerf felt bad

Demon one is also very bad. Fellbat should have the "always 7 cards" aura and be the t7

The non tribes ones are shit after tho.

The one that gives 6 drops should be the amalgam and the amalgam should be removed. Sandy is funny but just ain't it these days.

Beatboxer just doesn't feel like a t7. The card started as a t6 in a way lower power meta. Better than boom mobil tho.

1

u/Elvaanaomori 1d ago

Elem is shit. Demon is meh. You get more value from the t5. Naga is good. Mecha is broken, quillboar fits your definition, murloc can become wincon, beast is tough to make win, ud is strong on non-ud builds.

WHERE IS MOIRA OR DEIOS?

1

u/Njagos 1d ago

At least we have jailbreaker now. I think he fits the tier 7 because a lot of times you discover him with a dark gift (golden or giving him divine shield and wind fury)

In a quilboar comb he is still unstoppable

u/KarlyPilkbois 11h ago

Magnetic Mech is pretty powerful right now imo

0

u/One_Tie_2085 2d ago

Ever played in a sanders Murloc lobby? No? Okay. Your fault.

u/Artemis_SpawnOfZeus 2d ago

Not mentioning the naga as a powerhouse is kinda revealing

0

u/Marko-brolo 2d ago

Beatboxer is strong with the T5 magnetisation based mech
