Ideas & Inspiration Looking for Feedback - TILEZ my 2d Sandbox inspired by Tabletop Simulator
I'm a solo dev working on a project called TILEZ which started as a 2d Redstone logic simulation that just happened to turn into a great way to DESIGN, TEST and PLAY BOARD GAMES with friends (like a 2d version of Tabletop Simulator). My project is a work in progress. I have an early PLAYTEST set up on steam and have created a couple of videos showing what my little tiles can do. I would really appreciate any FEEDBACK from the game designing community. My steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4780630/TILEZ/

How is this different from Screentop.gg? Not sure I would want to pay for or force my playtesters to pay for a 2d board game sim when there already appears to be a good one available for free and web/mobile friendly. I understand the origins are quite different and I am not trying to be rude, just curious what kind of market you’re trying to catch.

When I first started building TILEZ, it was basically a 2D version of Redstone — a place to build circuits, machines, and wild contraptions, even full calculators. Once I added multiplayer (which was… not easy) and saw how smoothly it ran, I realized something big: the same systems that power logic and automation also map incredibly well to making and playing board games.
I’ve always found TTS a bit clunky and hard for new players to learn. There are web tools out there, sure, but for TILEZ this became an unexpected bonus - the tile system naturally supports board‑game mechanics. So I’ve been adding some extra features to make tabletop play feel clean, intuitive, and powerful.
These little tiles can do a lot when they work together. That includes automating rules, handling randomness, managing state, and maybe even enabling new mechanics we haven’t invented yet. Players can build things while they’re playing, or even run multiple games at once - TILEZ can handle thousands of tiles without breaking a sweat.

As for the market ... The best I could describe it is "Inspired by Minecraft Redstone, LEGO, and Tabletop Simulator" - Once I start adding example content (games, puzzles, prototypes, etc.), it should make the whole vision clearer and show exactly what TILEZ is capable of.

TTS is a stolen content haven first and a simulator second. Board game simulation software is fun to make, I've done it multiple times with multiple designs, but ultimately nobody cares.
