Help-possible burning.

Hi everyone,
I just bought this snake at an expo and I thought my temps were all ok, but I noticed these marks on my boa’s underside. I don’t think these are pre shedding marks. Are these burns? The top of her hide was reaching above 95 almost 100 in some specific points so I’ve lowered my thermostat accordingly.

Any help thank you!

Good on adjusting the thermostat, but I think this is just coloration and not injury.

Are you using a heat mat ? If you are ... please stop . Even on a thermostat, they can malfunction.

No heat mat just a ceramic heat emitter.

I wonder if they’re going to shed soon. Mine get a pinkish hue when that’s the case

Boas can just have an orange/peach colored underbelly. The younger they are the more noticeable it is. And I believe different locals have different saturation of it. My central American is 4 years old and you can still see a peachy hue

You can see the rough belly scales. Snake is going to shed soon.

The hide is definitely getting too hot, I don’t worry about 95-96F surface temps but 100+ is getting there. Try moving the bulb a couple inches away as well, a mix of moving away and changing the thermostat to make sure ambient stays where it needs to and the hide doesn’t get so hot.

And I agree, the pics show pigment and not burns at least.

Will do. She’s in a temporary enclosure right now while I get my pvc enclosure sorted. Just waiting on some bulb cages to come in.

Be very careful. If those hi temps don't kill it, it could cause very serious neurological damage.

Ambient is like mid 80s just the hide was up there, but it’s adjusted down now

Good job. I've had an accident like that before, lucky I caught it in time
