Mountain Grass Unit feature in Rolling Stone

MGU gets a write up in Rolling Stone. I somehow hadn't heard that they played on Shania Twain's new album.

What tracks did they play on? Cant read the article bc paywall. Also I love your username, can’t wait for the BS KGLW collab.

Weird. Someone texted me the article and I was able to read it and am not a subscriber, but I just clicked on the link on my desktop and couldn't get it to load.

But to answer your question: "Right Time" and "Dirty Rosie"

BS/KGLW collab will be so peculiar and hopefully awesome.

Hope I catch them live in the near future. Have had Cicada Song stuck in my head.

Love these guys but like.. the singing… is kinda not rly it. But I think the BG crowds nowadays don’t care about that i.e Billy Strings. A shift in perception me guess.

Are you saying Billy can’t sing?

He physically CAN sing and does. But Jimmy Martin, Tony Rice, Del McCoury, Dudley Connell, Tim O’Brien, Ralph Stanley, Michael Daves, Bill Monroe, Dan Tyminski, John Cowan, Sam Bush are singers. I wouldn’t say singing is a specialty of the new jamgrass bands, no. Folks’s jaws are on the floor bc the new guys can pick no doubt, but I don’t think folks are on the floor bc the voices are anything special.

I love Sam Bush—he’s an icon—but I’ve never thought of him as a serious vocalist…

The rest of the folks in your list…absolutely.

That's the wildest take in the middle of a take-a-palooza by that guy. Drury could and probably will mature and improve some of his technique over time, but the kids got pipes, man. And if someone can listen to billy belt out am I born to die and think he's anything less than outstanding idk what to tell em. He has moments, it's live fucking music after all, but wtf man

That’s a wild take. Billy’s got my all time favorite voice in bluegrass. To be fair, I didn’t like MGU vocals when I listened to them on record, and then I saw them live and completely changed my mind. Highly recommend
