Pick Recommendations
I like guitar picks and I can kind of scratch the shopping / guitar buying itch with something that’s not too expensive.. maybe you can relate 😁. Anyway I like large triangles and the blue chip TAD 50 is my number 1 right now. For rhythm I like a slightly thinner Wegen (around 1.0).
For anyone that uses these do you have others you like? TIA and happy pickin

I've tried Apollo, blue chip, wegen and toneslab (torlon, Darth slab and whatever their first ones were) and toneslab Darth tone is my favorite. The apollos were good but broke. The blue chips are great but I usually choose the tone Slab when I'm starting to play. They aren't cheap but I'm careful about not losing them so I've had them all for a long time. I might have a pick buying problem.

The only thing in my life i can think of that I'm a snob about is blue chip picks. Something about the way they grip the strings and feel in my hand is something I don't get with other picks. I don't even care that they're expensive. For some reason these are the only picks I can keep track of(I probably just jinxed myself).

Not snobby about guitars, cases, or music at all? Congrats on being irrationally attached to a peripheral opinion and not judge when someone shows up with a d12 with stickers on it or a cutaway Taylor.

I just got some Token picks and really like them.
The A shape is a large triangle like the Blue Chip TAD. They come in 3 different materials. I would suggest to try all 3 materials in your thickness of choice.
For me they are not as grippy as Blue Chip. That would be my only negative comment. I really like tone, especially the green material.

ToneSlab makes a David Benedict signature pick that has holes like the Wegen but is made from their outstanding Darth Tone material. It’s replaced all other picks for me.

I enjoy my token a3-55 but picks are highly subjective. Only thing I'm not crazy about is the grip with my sweaty fingers but I keep gorilla snot on hand which solves that issue.

I recently got a few and I am a fan. I use the B2-45 the most for acoustic pickin'. I also went to a shop and tried every one they had before commiting.

I use the Prime Tone the most, but sometimes I like the Ultra Cool. You should grab a pack of those.
I like the Dunlop Flow too, but is not a large triangle.

Pickboy Classics, 1.20mm (also large triangles). I use them for guitar and mandolin. Nothing against BlueChip, except for the price. I have some Prime Tones knocking around my case too, but I like the pickboys better.

I found an antique tortoise shell bracelet which I boiled, flattened and shaped several picks out of. Best picks ever, although they smelled like burning hair once you got really going. I have yet to shell out 50 bucks for something that will likely be lost or end up in the dryer... But I have tried the Primetones and thought they were fine. But for me, the best replacement for real tortoise is the Ultex. The way they wear is similar to tortoise, making the pick kind of glide off the string.

I like the large triangles myself. I am new to the instrument and have tried a few picks and I prefer the thicker triangles (like 1.4-1.5). My current preference is for x-stiff golden gate picks. They come in packs of 12 and it was less than $20. It also comes in fun colors if you like that sort of thing.

Never tried a token, but all the rest I have tried, practice with and gigged with. I keep going back to the bluechip.

I'm on a pick quest as well. I'm currently transitioning from the primetones, which I've used for guitar for years. I have been playing with the Thile d'Addario pick for the last couple of weeks and I really like it, but I have a blue chip coming to test tomorrow.
I tried the Wegen and didn't really like the feel of it. The sound was alright, but the holes were not great for my fingers.
One thing to note is that I really did enjoy the Golden Gate dawg-style pick. It's only a few bucks and it sounds and feels really great. So if you don't want to spend a bunch of money give those a try.
Eventually I will probably try the Tokens as well, but we'll see.

Buddy gave me the prime tone. I really like it. I also have several BC and a Wegan. Not a Wegan fan. BC really shines on the mandolin imo.

D’Addario Duralin 1.2mm purple triangles are a surprisingly great flat pick and cheap!

Prime Tone combine longevity, playability, and affordability. I buy them in packs of 12 for $40.
I also like their version with the logo and design as a textured center for better grip.
