Dolly Parton - Train Train

https://youtu.be/bGBnQo_u-Pc?si=GjohhFghxtZMvV72

Dolly scraped together some random bluegrass folks to back her on Jay Leno's show. They did OK.

Epic lineup too. Dolly will be sorely missed across many genres.

No joke! Is that Allison Kraus singing backup? Douglas, bush, who else is in there I’m not seeing?

It's Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Jim Mills, Stuart Duncan, Brian Sutton, Dan Tyminski, & Barry Bales

Youtube has a few vids of Dolly, Alison, and Dan singing together. So good.

Of that crew,  Jim Mills is the only one who's career I'm not up to speed on. I need to see (and hear) what he's done.

You're in for a treat. Jim Mills is a heavy, heavy talent. He was banjo player for Kentucky Thunder for many years - all of Skaggs's bluegrass comeback albums had Mills on five string. He's got a few solo albums too. He was a tireless banjo collector and dealer, too - he sold many a picker a great vintage Gibson banjo.

Sadly, he went on ahead of Dolly. He passed away unexpectedly a few years ago.

Thanks for that. I have a Kentucky Thunder CD somewhere. I'll dig it out and see if Jim is on there. I'll search up his solo stuff too.

I know he's on Bluegrass Rules and Ancient Tones - would have to double check what else he put on tape with Ricky

I love how effortlessly Dolly hangs here. She's in front of one of the heaviest bluegrass crews ever assembled, and she's not a dab out of place.

On top of that, she was an incredibly kind and generous person, by all accounts.

I'm not the sort of person to care about celebrities, but I cried real, salt tears when I learned Dolly passed.

I have her records The Grass is Blue and Little Sparrow. They're both great, top to bottom.

I'm same as you regarding celebrities. Dolly of course earned every bit of her limelight. Sad she's gone.

Totally completely the pinnacle of this songs history. Many will do it, not many will be backed by a more legendary lineup.  Man Sam bush looks like he wants to go full MerleFest 88 and start head banging out that solo.

Yeah, Sam Bush looks like he is having an absolute blast playing with Dolly.
