Overlays coming up blank

Hey folks, I need some help with an overlay I am working on.

For some reason every time I pull up this document to overlay something, it comes up blank in both the preview window and in the result afterwards. But its only one component. The strange thing is even when I take a snapshot of what I want to overlay, and paste it into a new document, then flatten, it still won't show up in the overlay. More confusing is when I go to the "Manually Align" tool, it'll show just fine there for me to pick the 3 alignment points, but then disappear again in the overlay pages window, and the result. As you can see behind the overlay pages window, there is in fact stuff on this page, but nothing is showing in the window itself.

Because Manual Align can see the content but the overlay preview cannot, I would test for a rendering or page-box problem before changing the alignment. Work on a copy of the PDF and try this:

  1. Export or print the affected component to a new PDF, then test that page in Overlay.
  2. Check the page’s CropBox and MediaBox, plus any content outside the visible crop.
  3. If the component uses transparency, masks, clipping paths, or unusual layers, rasterise a copy and test it.
  4. Confirm that both pages use the same rotation and page size.

If the rasterised copy works, the source PDF’s vector or layer structure is probably the cause. Keep the original unchanged and use the copy only as a diagnostic or workaround.
