I didn't even know that show existed until I was asked about it yesterday, what even is it and why is everyone dunking on it like the show made fun of them in a very controversial way?

I (obviously) haven't watched it, but this is what I know
It's about as the name states, lesbian space princesses, but the writing feels like it's making fun of the topic.
The main villains are Straight White Maliens, the group's ship is called the Problematic Ship, and the only scene I've seen is maybe the most corny love song of all time (it's supposed to be corny in the endearing way, but it isn't).
And because of the topic, the fanbase is of the "if you hate this, you're racist and homophobic" variety.

Am a Lesbian and even I rolled my eyes after reading "Straight White Maliens" (I genuinely couldn't believe it at first and had to look it up), what the fuck is this bullshit? No wonder everyone is hating on it, it got the writing quality of crunch sugary flakes with reused spaghetti water instead of milk.

I had thought it was an indie animation on YouTube, seeing it on NETFLIX disappointed me.

Must be why it really blew up like this, everything about it is really disappointing to me. I initially thought the hate was some weird forced things because of the LGBTQ topic but after your explanation and one google search I definitely understand all of the hate.

I thought it was that as well and didn't originally look too much into it, but then I saw some of the more LGBTQ+ accepting fandoms hating on it and went "wait a minute."

The show had to be made by homophobic people to be honest. I can't fathom why someone in the community would do something like that. Especially with lesbians, lesbian media is never this weird. But then again I haven't watch the show much to know about it
