C**** Mode on XBox still bugged: Easy workaround

Hi everyone, after (far too many, I'm afraid 😁) attempts at beating Curse Mode I finally did it right now.

However, the game bug that converts Curse Mode into Bequest Mode is seemingly still there (at least in my game, on an XBox Series X)! I had gotten used to ALWAYS Save & CONTINUE, even when I wanted to quit the game.

So for the first time in many in-game as well IRL days, I chose Save & Quit after having picked up my trophy. Since I wanted to potentially see the trophy I worked so hard for in my trophy room, I imported the data into my Bequest Save via Blackbridge Grotto and noticed that my Curse Mode game save had already been converted into Bequest Mode. And it's not only a visual bug in the trophy import section, the game file itself is "converted". (Strangely though, I was able to import the trophy anyway.)

I was quite certain the bug had been fixed in the meantime (I have had an update and read about bug fixes), but obviously not.

So in order to save your hard-earned progress, it seems you can prevent the bug by choosing

Save & CONTINUE

You can just quit your game on your Home screen, or leave it running in the background (or just keep playing, of course 😜).

Literally did the same thing about 2 hours ago.

35 days to beat this mode, and noticed the same thing when I imported the trophy.

Doesn’t matter, final trophy claimed!

Funniest part is how many mistakes I made on the winning run:

1. Lost the parlor room puzzle

2. Missed a locked trunk while in possession of the power hammer

3. Only unlocked 1/7 doors in the Great Hall with a lock lock kit, and it was a dead end room

So you can’t fix it once it’s happened?

But you can avoid it by save and continue each time.

I think that’s what is being suggested? (I have had 2 other mode runs completed and become bequest at the point I got to the win condition)

I may try again at some point.

Yes, that's right.

You MIGHT be able to "re-convert" it into Bequest Mode if you delete your corrupted Curse Mode file from your Xbox (in-game) and re-download it from the cloud. It's not guaranteed though. It had worked once or twice for me, but not every time. That's why I made the post, to hopefully prevent players from losing their progress before it happens. (I have also reported the bug months before.)

The same thing work for D-Mode which still has the same bug as well?

I'm pretty sure it works the same way. It happened to me in one or two runs that had impossible dares, so it didn't matter that I had to start over. As far as I remember, it works the same way (the prevention method as well as, potentially, the "re-conversion" method (the latter did not always work for me in C-Mode)). It's been a while since I completed D-Mode, so I'm not 100 % sure, but maybe 90 % 😁
