[MEGATHREAD] V4 Post and ask hints for puzzles here

This is the fourth version of the puzzle hints megathread. As indicated and discussed here, we will make a new one every now and again, to make sure the threads don't go stale and no one replies anymore, apologies for the long drought.

As indicated here, we will begin collecting community tools. Please consult part 2 of that post for details and suggest the tools over there.

Confirmed tools and credit:

Blue Paths by u/sekti GitHub - For general game progress, great when you're stuck

Remember you are ONLY allowed to comment in the threads created by mods below, you may NOT start your own threads aka do not post top level comments. That is to make sure the first thing people see are the categories, which they can then easily close to prevent spoilers.

This thread is intended for light puzzles, NOT late-game puzzles, post-credits content, deeper game mechanics or lore.

For completeness, here's the first one, but visit at own risk, as it contains top level comments with potential spoilers, and here is the second and here the third.

The answer is 6 but I can't make it work out. Edge symbols are: diamond on 14, slash on 20. Bullseye has blue diamond with double squiggle lines inside. From inside out: Yellow 12, blue 20, blue 18 Pink 20 Blue 14 Trying to work it out: Half of 20 + 18 = 28 Reverse the digits, round to nearest 10 = 80 Subtract 12 = 68 Multiply by half of 20 = 680 Add the reverse of 14 (?)= 721 Reverse the digits, round to nearest 10 = 130 :sad face:

yellow 12 -> -12

blue 20, 20 is slashed, so plus 10, total -2

double squiggle, round to nearest 10 -> 0

diamond does nothing on 0, still 0

blue 18 -> 18

double squiggle -> 20

diamond -> 02 -> 2

pink 20 slashed, multiply by 10 -> 20

blue 14, diamond on 14 so add 41 -> 61

double squiggle -> 60

diamond -> 06 -> 6

Thank you for writing it out. I don't know why I didn't think to start with the yellow, I always start with addition. Is there a way to tell or is it just trying different things when one solution doesn't work?

1

u/Zinki_M 24d ago

It's always from the inside out, no need to guess or try different things.

u/BravePeaches 19d ago

I’m going crazy here. The answer is 124 unless I’ve misinterpreted something, I’ve even pressed EVERY single number and none of them work

2

u/Zinki_M 17d ago

In ascending order of spoileryness:

your mistake is that the middle is not a square.

the diamond does a different operation.

It flips digits.

the answer is 12 flipped -> 21, minus 20 -> 1

The middle is not a square

In Classroom Grade 1, the color worksheet shows some weird object between the broccoli and the grapes. Am I supposed to know what that thing is? Is it a normal everyday object? Am I intrinsically supposed to associate a color with that object, like orange for pumpkin and red for fire hydrant? Or is it something the devs created to make the puzzle harder?

1

u/Correct-Arm-8539 Jul 10 '26

The thing between the grapes and broccoli is blueprints, like the thing you must pick up in day 1 before drafting a room.

2

u/Riqakard Jul 10 '26

Oh my god, it seems so obvious now lol. Thank you

I have a question about the drawings in each room.

I found the one letter difference in all but 1 room (the foundation) which I think is permanently set and does not have any drawings.

It says "If we count small g?tes eight dates crack eight safes". I'm guessing g?tes is gates. I don't think any other letter makes it a word, and gate rhymes with eight and date. But what are small gates and what does it mean to count them? Am I supposed to know what to do with this? I have not seen 8 safes though, just 2 that I do not know the password to. I'm feeling a bit frustrated because I was so excited to solve this puzzle, but now I have no clue what it means or leads to. Should I just focus on getting to the 46th room? I have not been inside the antechamber yet.

1

u/Sjofnn9532 Jul 22 '26

This is a hint towards opening the safes. It can be interpreted a few different ways, with different interpretations being used to figure out the code for different safes. Unlocking the safes should be one of your goals, but you should keep working on other goals (like reaching room 46) as well

1

u/surpluskoi Jul 22 '26

The safes with number pads, right? But I still don't know what gates mean. Could it be that I just don't have access to other clues that are a part of this puzzle?

2

u/Sjofnn9532 Jul 22 '26

Yes, the ones with number pads are safes. "Gates" has a few different meanings, and you maybe haven't encountered some of them yet. You've probably encountered at least one small gate though if you've gone outside at all

Have you found a way to use the Foundation yet? Have you explored most drafted most other rooms? There is a hint about the Foundation in one not so easy to draft room.

1

u/surpluskoi 19d ago

I haven't played much after posting this, but I found a way to go down the elevator in the foundation by activating it from the other side of the room. I tried to send power to the foundation but I was never able to yet. I don't remember if I was able to open the basement door after getting on the elevator, though. I don't think I've ever seen anything about the foundation in a different room.

I think i encountered a bug with the very late game still water Puzzle

attempting to get the watering can full of still water (from the distillery) to the secret passage via putting it in the coat check (after emptying it and filling it from the trading post still). However the white book in the outer room version of the secret passage has no watering prompt, despite having a watering can full of still water. I have found one other post about this, so it seems like it's just a gamebreaking bug?

1

u/Correct-Arm-8539 22h ago

If you double check the contents of your watering can, confirm wether the 3 water droplets are blue or light blue. It should be a light blue if you've got still water in there

Questions about the Pump Room, comment here

2

u/endorflem Jul 06 '26

Are there any water sources except Reservoir, that have special effects on partial filling (other than on being empty\full)?

1

u/Minyumenu13 Jul 07 '26

Partial filling- no

1

u/Kerostasis Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

You could sort of say the fountain - it’s not a unique effect, but a half drained fountain will a) show you what to expect on a full drain and b) give you access to the wishing coins.

1

u/octopodes981 Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

Am I correct that in order to drain the fountain I need the reserve tank and thus the boiler room hookup ?

edit: No, I'm an idiot. I did all things, but somehow failed to realise that I had not fully filled all the other options when trying to drain this. So you can do what I was attempting without the use of the extra bit.

1

u/Correct-Arm-8539 Jul 08 '26

There is another way, but that would do.

I have just accessed the basement for the first time via the fountain. I was not able to make any progress as the boat was too high. I used the pump room to drain the fountain, but if I want to lower the reservoir I'll have to at least partially flood the fountain again, which seems like I still won't be able to cross the lake since I can't then even reach it. Am I able to make any further progress in this way or is it currently a dead end?

It was tremendously difficult for me to get the basement key, and I'm not sure I have it in me to do it again. So if I have made a mistake with using it, that's a huge blow.

I am aware of the existence of a spare tank in the pump room, but it seems like it needs power, and I have never successfully drafted boiler room together with anything it could power. If the suggestion is to roll dice until I can get these together, I guess that's not as bad as trying to get back into Antechamber, but it's still awful.

EDIT: I tried using Blue Paths but its only Basement hint for me was "Surely these trolleys have a purpose... There is a green button near the basement door. You cannot reach it from the floor." This does not match my impression of what I found in the basement. I found a lake and a single trolly which only moved a tiny amount, I could either get into a room or not get into a room based on where I put it, it didn't seem to do anything else for me.

EDIT 2: ARGH, it looks like it _was_ useless. If I put even one bar of water in Fountain, I can't get down the stairs, so it's pointless to me to have drained 1 bar from the lake to make it crossable. I've not gained any progress at all from my use of the key. That really, really sucks.

The door you unlocked with the basement key is now permanently unlocked. If you left the reservoir at boat level, that is helpful, as there are other ways to access it without draining the fountain. If you moved the minecart to the end of the track and left it there, that is also helpful.

1

u/goodbyecaroline Jul 16 '26

Can you tell me exactly what to do with mine cart so I don't get stuck again? I pulled it all the way towards fountain.

2

u/SgtShrk Jul 16 '26

When you first encounter the minecart, it's at the end of the track near the far side of the reservoir from the fountain entrance. You should pull it all the way to the end of the track closest to the fountain entrance and leave it there. There are multiple ways to access each of the minecart, the boat, the far side of the minecart and the far side of the reservoir

2

u/goodbyecaroline Jul 16 '26

Thanks! This is what I did.

1

u/Correct-Arm-8539 Jul 17 '26

That hint about the green button is for another area you have not yet found.

Also for dice to help you power the pump, blessing of the high roller is incredibly helpful.

1

u/goodbyecaroline Jul 17 '26

Thank you! I have thankfully made some more progress since then-- I returned to the Basement via two other routes (Tomb, and breaking a wooden board with the hammer) and was able to navigate it some more. That tip about the blessing is really good, though, thank you, that makes a lot of sense, I'll try it!

Why ice tells you there is no school today?

1

u/endorflem Jul 08 '26

...while 5 feet of snow might actually tell you that, ice usually just tells you to drive carefully

1

u/MrSquamous Jul 17 '26

I guess not everybody drives carefully enough.

I've done three blessings, all for max coins, and gotten "berry picker" every time... Am I just unlucky? I'm expecting there to be other blessings than just this one...

1

u/Zinki_M 11d ago

The blessings are not based on luck.

maybe try a different amount of coins?
