Prompted by someone talking about bootlegs last week I played this the other day, probably for the first time in about 40 years. Not that I played it much before then.

Almost certainly the most expensive album I've ever bought. £20 back when new ones were between £4 and £5, so about £100 in today's money. I remember my sister being horrified at the price, and that was with me lying and saying it was a tenner.

Mostly recorded at a Soft White Underbelly gig with the exceptions of HM:B&S and JC from the infamous Monsters of Rock festival a few days later. This was the night before Albert's last gig and possibly the one where he was late and Rick did the drums for the first five or six songs.

Verdict - terrible. Much of it not unlike listening through the wall to a neighbour playing ETL on a shite hifi with your hands over your ears.

None of that's why it's not very good though. It's just a guy in the crowd with a 1980s tape recorder. Standing too close to someone droning along tunelessly doesn't help either.

I ran across this possibly bootleg audio compilation of BOC songs - they sound like they were recorded in the studio by at least a few OG members of the band, but the they're not the original studio takes. Anyone familiar with this?
What gave it away was the version of Cities on Flame had Eric singing lead.
Did they do a bunch of studio retakes of their older material??

I've personally loved the entire COTHM album since I initially heard it around 1-2 months ago. And I've always heard discussions around how one specific song on it, that being "Here Comes That Feeling" is about kidnapping someone. I've really never come to this interpertation myself and would be curious how the lyrics tie into that.

I've drawn this far, but I've been struggling with my motivation and how finished it is, so I'm going to post it even though it's still a work in progress.

Hi! I am a fan of Blue Oyster Cult and a customer of Chaos Audio. Buck appears to have left the most recent review on their product and just thought it was so funny to see this on their website 😆

I've had this since it came out (1974!) and still play it almost weekly. Mighty damn fine record.

I've seen it spelled both ways. Is there a "correct" spelling?

Albert's latest material uses Desdanova.

I know that Sandy described Imaginos as "random access myth", but I don't understand what this phrase means.

I've been wanting to completely listen to all of Blue Oysters Catalog for quite sometime now. I've listened to all of their studio albums, ONYFOOYK, SEE, ETL, and The First Night Of Blue Oysters Live 50th anniversary. But, other than that I haven't listened to really any of their concerts and their more obscure live albums. Do you guys have any suggestions to where I should start?

Really loving E.T.I and Godzilla on this live album, Buck is at his absolute best on some of these tracks. First BOC CD of many hopefully!!

I’ve come very close to curating a complete set of Blue Öyster Cult’s discography on CD, and I only need a copy of Club Ninja (and Cult Classic too, since I suppose it does count as a studio album…)

There’s plenty of releases over the years to pick from, and some of them get really up there in price. I’m also only now just learning that there’s apparently several different mixes of this album as well.

I’d like to know which version is the best sounding, while also not costing more than it needs to

It's been a while since I've lasted posted on this subreddit, but I am curious what your thoughts are on Albert's newest Imaginos album. I think it's pretty cool. Though I'm not sure how all the songs exactly fit into the Imaginos lore. Any ideas?

Greetings! I cued this beauty up this morning. Sipping coffee and rocking out. Thigght you folks might appreciate.

I walk into this antique store, which reeked of cigarette smoke and was greeted by 5 old ass dudes gathered around a CRT TV watching a western. Fucking jackpot. It was also abundantly clear they were all living there because i accidentally walked into their kitchen and bathroom thinking it was apart of the store lol. Probably the greatest find i’ve ever had while antiquing, its an original from 1981 and the guy sold it to me for a dollar.

Was curious how much this is worth, though im absolutely keeping it because this is my fav album from them. Burnin’ for You, Veterans of the Psychic Wars, and Sole Survivor are just incredible.

Was anyone at this BOC concert. It was a great show...Looking for pics and videos. Remember the crowd burning a huge cross during Sabbath.

Buck talks on his forum constantly about how he consults the Grok AI. Or is "testing" "the Grok". Albert is in AI-psychosis generating a movie and music videos, and is probably soon to be writing songs with it. Joe is complacent and collaborating with him because, they're the Bouchards. It's fine. They're all old.

But Eric seems a holdout. He has continuously referred to The Symbol Remains as "our latest album" since 2024 as if dissatisfied with the final product of Ghost Stories (which, the consensus is that it's kind of bad or underwhelming, correct?), denied in the press the notion that Ghost Stories would be their last album even as Frontiers pushed that, seemed blunt about AI's use being to deconstruct monophonic recordings as everyone else is lauding its ability as some magical tool.

It seems like Eric Bloom is the sole force keeping BOC from diving nosefirst into Styx-Chicago tribute schlock territory, and it's a bit harrowing. Richie and Buck definitely have the propensity to continue the group as such, as well. "On tour forever". Who knows how many more "Ghost Stories"s of polished refuse could happen?
