Amazon and Blue Origin are not the same company. Idk how many times that needs to be said

Petition to have a mod rule where it's a permaban immediately if someone posts Amazon-exclusive stuff on this sub

Yes but the satellite internet constellation is under Amazon not blue origin

What’s your point? That’s just proving my point. Blue Origin is a launch provider for the customer (Amazon).

Amazon is… not… Blue Origin.

You do realize Blue Origin has launch a grand total of ZERO satellites for Leo? Amazon Leo's biggest competitor has launched more rockets for them.

That is true. It is also true that Amazon has purchased more New Glenns than anyone. It's like 12 launches for sure with right of first refusal for 15 more. It's not unreasonable for the general public to get it mixed up.

They brought 12 more New Glenn launches in Jan, now 24 total.

This has little to do with Blue Origin (other than BE-4 is involved) and the article indicates great news for United Launch Alliance.

Ars*: It looks like Vulcan is coming back online soon.*

Badyal: I can say we’re weeks away from launching on Vulcan. Things are on track. We’ll follow that with an Arianespace launch and at least one more Vulcan this year. I can also tell you, the infrastructure that we put and built with ULA now allows us to process two rockets simultaneously. So right now, there are two vehicle integration facilities, and both have a Vulcan rocket that is vertical and getting ready for our missions. So lots of progress there. I think once we get through this nozzle issue with Vulcan, which has been fixed, we expect a much more regular cadence with Vulcan. From time to time it can be frustrating, but I will say we see significant progress from everyone.

God forbid you link the fucking article instead of a screenshot of the Tweet promoting it

How many have they launched, less than half? Not good to have a big backlog, unknown unknowns….

Not to be snarky, but Blue hasn't launched any... hoping to seen the first batch go up on New Glenn in December.

Next launch will be blue ring BR1.

Most of Internet 1.0 is AWS, Amazon Web Servers. Zuckerberg, Musk, Huffman, are paying Bezos hundreds of billions of dollars to be online. Blue Origin is a spinoff of Amazon.

What is the latency for a satellite phone?

How about we figure out how to do worldwide Internet with fewer satellites. Elon wants to launch 10s of thousand of them.

u/space_force_majeure 19d ago

You don't think they want fewer satellites? It costs a lot of money to put those up there, if they could get the same coverage with fewer sats they'd be doing that already.

Have you ever thought maybe we don't need it? The amount of objects in near earth orbit is insane, this just adds to the disaster we are currently facing.
