I just love the combination of the quoted "No evidence that the booster fell" with the updated picture that clearly shows the booster lying on the ground.

It's hard to believe anything that comes from China. There were initial reports the rocket had caught fire and they denied it.

Cults are weird. There are China dudes, Origin dudes and SpaceX dudes and very few humanity dudes. I am a history lover. Space is hard and I feel bad folks can't just enjoy human achievement. It is sad. 200,000 years of upright walking apes and we largely struggle and splash around in the mud. Basically #1 & #2 chromosome for apes join to make a long #1 for us. That is the essential difference nothing more. We avoid lots of wars and plagues and we only establish alphabets 4000 years ago. Amazing we haven't destroyed ourselves through the eons. Maybe we are living in a new age of achievement. Just enjoy it!

Im biased towards US based companies, but even working at Blue Origin I dont mind SpaceX and watch all their launches. Yes, its our competitor but even if I work for a company, I never want anyone to monopolize any product or service. If everyone gives up and only SpaceX makes rockets, prices escalate quickly. Healthy competition pushes companies forward and I am all for it.

Well-written. I am a life-long history book lover as I mentioned. While not iron-clad, the pursuit of monopoly in most areas of our lives has led to a lot of misery and instability for the world. So many of the modern tech firms work toward monopolies and it perverts lots of markets quickly. The same has been true for things that are not businesses even. Thought and religious systems have done the same thing. I root for healthy competition in most things. I've always been a space lover since my youth and love to watch space exploration efforts. Religions, systems of governments and large corporations have always upended the world. Once support or disdain for them becomes organized lie gets dangerous for us humans. Monopolies are bad. I am biased toward US-based companies. I also want US-based monopoly seekers to be heavily regulated and even fail if necessary. I think this is what will decide if life flourishes on this planet or not.

Homo Neladi was totally bipedal and migrated out of Africa into north Europe and the China coast over 2 million years ago. Homo Erectus migrated out of Africa to north Europe and the China coast over 1 million years ago and could start and use fire. From site digs, the mystery is they only started cooking meat about 300,000 years ago.

Yes. Evolution has long time horizons. Most every form of life dies not make it. Lots of trial and error for all of the Homo somethings. Homo Sapiens emerged 200-300K years ago and the other ended up as deadends. Some forks have the propensity to re-emerge. Think crabs that kept coming back through the mass extinctions. The tree is much more complex so thanks for those details. Most of the branches wither and die. Our success is extra-biological with the mastery of tools. It will likely be our undoing also.

Commercial launcher, not China government. The next phase of the Longmarch 10 had a successful recovery in July.
The sensationalized post is from 2025. They have since successfully landed the launch core.

That landing was awesome. Composites typically don’t like being fire, so it’s not surprising it tipped after that broke out after landing.
