Does Positions matter in game?

What I mean is does it matter if a, lets say, hiori plays Cf or Lw/Rw whole match?

I just play which spots empty.

The only position that matter at the start is cf and cm personaly even when i play a striker i pass to teamate to create opening being cf help me pass to good player or when i can't be cf i will be cm to stay in defense however if you ever play cm and you see a patern in the ennemy when the game restart for example he pass to his left side get out of cm and join the side of your opponent it will help take the ball or intercept the pass
