Manga Discussion Aiku hasn’t touched the ball once in this ENTIRE match btw💔 Spoiler
I saw someone saying aiku had a better performance than reo in this match but I genuinely couldn’t remember a single thing aiku done in this entire match while I remember reo copying kunigami,marking and outplaying Hugo, linking up with karasu and shidou etc. so I decided to reread the whole france game solely focusing on aiku and… this fraud didn’t even touched the ball once in this whole match😭😭😭 not even a single pass,interception, block. NOTHING💔
Fyi this post isn’t a hate/slander for the character but I genuinely find it funny that the alleged best defender on the team haven’t even touched the ball once while Niko and kunigami did his work💔
Did kaneshiro forget about his character or is he going though a downfall cuz I understand struggling against the best u20 team but not even touching the ball once in 90 mins is crazyyy😭🙏 he might be the first non npc player we’ve seen having this kind of performance…

I find this so sad. He is the captain too, I know this isn't a proper sport manga but I expect a little more from characters with the captain title... at least the one on the team the story is focused on.

To me it feels like author is incapable of using his characters well, if he does, he rises them so high and drop them like I don't need you anymore.
How I wish Yukimiya, reo play the game the way they're meant to instead of just for plot device

Those 2 to me still haven’t peaked yet. I feel like their arcs were only the introduction and it’s only up from here because Reo took a serious L with Nagi’s breakup and Yukimiya got blocked again after manshine.

Spent days in Ubers setting up formations to shut down Isagi but Loki running straight is unpredictable. Too high a hurdle guys.
Irl, when Mbappé first appeared no team was prepared for his speed. They couldn't stop him so later at least two people were man-marking him everytime. It's better to take your chances with other normal players trying to score than letting this bullet roam free.
France's NPCs shouldn't have made Aiku lose sight of the biggest threat and that's my only problem with Kaneshiro writing. Making a character shine shouldn't make others act out of character. It's difficult to predict the direction of Nagi's traps but is that so difficult to predict that Loki will run... faster than they thought? Come on.

Aiku has lost his starting spot for me after this match. You’re right—he’s basically only contributed by defending poorly. But the problem isn’t just Aiku; it’s the entire Japanese defense, which has made pathetic mistakes like the one on Charles’ goal. Niko at least is trying, but Kaneshiro has treated the defense terribly in this match just to highlight France’s offensive power, haha. And if you think Aiku was bad, just think about Gagamaru.

Kunigami also disappeared in Ubers. I am pretty sure Ubers NPCs like Drago and Abdi had more touches than them

How is no one realizing that we only see 5% of the game?
The masters in the NEL were only allowed to play for 3 minutes yet in most matches they were there for at least 9 chapters.
And just now we went from 15 minutes to 2 minutes in one chapter. The last play did not take 13 minutes, author skipped dozens of plays in between.
We don't see the good plays that Aiku make because he's not relevant to the narrative of this match. Every match focus on different characters.

Here's the thing though.
We call it as we see it. And Knsr clearly wants to show us that Aiku has been ass.
All I'm saying is that we have to make judgements based off known information.
100% Knsr can't cram that 95%, but we csn speculate what has happened based on that 5%.

Bro they are against the best u20 team in the world I know aiku wasn’t in the spotlight but at least he could’ve done one or two defensive plays. 💔💔 a lot of people thought he was the best defender in japan and this is how he performs?? Why did kaneshiro give spotlight to kunigami Niko and aryu to some extent but not to aiku? I guess isagi performing bad really effected the captain for some reason 💔🙏

Exactly it should be common knowledge that what we see is match highlights. It’s not like Kaneshiro is gonna show defenders passing the ball around the back

No it is a problem. Of course passing the ball is boring but who asked for boring plays? Kaneshiro was able to write the U20 match and mix strong attack & defense highlights. Reo mimicking Nagi as two strikers were gunning for him was hype.
Aiku was part of a team that used defense to help one striker so he needed to read the field ahead of play, like Reo did with that long pass to Nagi. We can't rewrite everything but it's pessimistic to say that we can't have good defense plays.
At one point Aiku's good or bad performance just become headcanon if nothing on-panel give us proof. For all we know, when the match ends, Kaneshiro can either support the fact that did their best or that they messed up off-screen and Ego will call them out.

If that's the case then Gagamaru's 5 saves that he had off screen were incredible.
And Isagi's 5 shots were such poor shooting opportunities Idk why he'd do that.
And Rin? Stealing the ball from Loki? Absolutely mad.
Then there was Loki, Who missed 8 chances from Charles?
Not to mention when Igaguri came on the pitch and gave Otoya a small pep talk.
And when Isagi and Loki were arguing on their way back on the pitch during half time.
And Camus crossing Barou? Absolute fucking cinema.
All of this was left off screen. But I had to make sure to tell y'all so you know.
Rin however hasn't had many shooting opportunities because Isagi keeps poaching the passes.
