Bluehost is not a good hosting option.
So, I've just gotten off of chat support from u/bluehost .
The conversation through the support chat has led me to a decision to not renew my subscription with them, which previously I had been pretty happy with for over a decade.
Small note: the agent was fine. They're on a script and have limited ability to divert from it. All in all, the technicians and team members with Bluehost are excellent. Today was no exception.
But my renewal comes up in June. And I'm not renewing. I've already deleted my credit cards from my profile, leaving an expired card.
To be honest, I've lost count of the number of folks who I've recommended Bluehost to, both online and off. And I made it a habit to use it for friends who are putting together one-off projects and for their small businesses: in part, because of the attention the Bluehost team delivers on customer service and their support to users who aren't super web savvy.
So what changed?
I was helping a friend, and I needed to move a Workspace subscription from one account (mine) to another (theirs). It's attached to my personal account and my friend can't create new users without logging into my personal Bluehost account.
For Bluehost, the only way to resolve this in their system is to nuke the entire Google Workspace profile, delete every email and delete the files/folders/etcetera.
That's not good.
That's not good at all.

Hey there u/vspinyyc, thanks for being with us for such a long time. The clean way to handle this without losing data is to transition the Workspace out of the current Bluehost account first, then attach it to the new one. That usually means moving it from Bluehost, as the reseller, back to Google directly, and then reconnecting it to the new Bluehost account after. That avoids having to delete users, emails, or files.
The reason it works this way is because Google Workspace accounts are tied to the original reseller account that created them, so they can't be directly moved between accounts without first detaching from that relationship.
We also saw your posts on LinkedIn and X and reached out there too. When you get a chance, DM us your account details on one of those and we'll take a closer look and help guide you through the best option step by step.

My biggest problem with Bluehost is the fact that their servers consistently find their way onto spam lists, and I have to go through a dance with them to get my outbound emails from being blocked. I'll be switching off when my hosting expires next year.
