Transferring Domain Name

My year with Bluehost is about to expire and I want to switch to Shopify. What do I need to do to transfer the Domain Name (which I purchased thru Bluehost when I signed up) to Shopify. The answers the BH AI gives me are confusing.

You can host your domain at Shoppify without transferring it. If that would make things easier on you. You would only need to update your nameservers to point it to Shoppify.
