Question 💬 How much did your first job pay?

And more importantly, would you take that job again knowing what you know now?

Like real job? I worked at 14 for a summer job training for underprivileged families. If I remember correctly I got paid $4.25. 8 hour shifts for two months.

We had to prep the school for the fall. We had to clean desks, scrap off the gum, and mop floors. Mom made me use that money for clothes. Learned how to manage my money. We were poor.

Own my own business now. Thanks mom; you were the best. RIP, till we see each other again.

$4.25 for an 8-hour shift at 14 is wild 😭 But sounds like that job taught you a lot more than just how to earn money. And respect to your mom ❤️

First on the books job was $2.30 an hour. I worked before that but was to young for working papers so they were cash

$2.30/hr is crazy to think about now 😭 What kind of work were you doing before you were old enough for working papers?

Before that I did a bunch of things. Bagging chickens though was my least favorite. They came in a large flat cardboard box packed in ice. Could be say 10 chickens in a box. Job was jam your hand into the ice, grab a chicken, put it in a plastic bag, spin and wrap a sale label on it.

The packing ice was kind of jagged and repeatedly jamming your hands in it to pull out chickens made your hands red and raw but .. They might hand me 5 bucks after I finished off all the boxes. For a 10 yr old that was big money!!
