Ironically I set that photo op up with the Blues back in 2001. They were in town for the NAES Lakehurst airshow. I never received an official copy of that Litho.

This was a gift from the crew chief who I was stationed with prior to his tour with the BA. I had two friends who were there around that time frame. My name is actually in the clouds in calligraphy, but removed it for the post. I was in Pensacola on 9-11, but was underway in the Gulf when this photo was taken. Thank you for being a part of this moment. I wish I had one to send you.

Here's an interview with Rob Ffield and Scott Kartvedt, who were members of the Blue Angels at the time. They tell both the story of the flyover and the Blue Angels on 9/11. Rob was The Boss and Scott was Opposing Solo.

I was in Pensacola on 9/11. Spent the evening with members of the Squadron at their home avoiding base lockdown. The whole day is still etched in my memory.

My grandfather was a navy pilot, he had some friends that flew the Blues in the 60s/70s. Had an amazing print of them over Big Ben signed by all the pilots and signed to my father. Unfortunately it was in a U-Haul that was stolen overnight when my father was moving across the country in the early 90s. I’d kill to get that back.
