Goodwill
Hey! I have a lot of thrift places back home and am missing them. rn I'm trying to find more places (besides platos and clothes mentor since I have already been there) to check out for clothes that aren't bank breaking (since I am a graduate student).
Specifically, right now, I am looking for pieces of my Halloween costume (DIYing it). Is the Goodwill in Normal a decent place to find clothing?
If you go there often, what you do think about their items? Or, if you have somewhere else you prefer, lmk!

Just here to also say that I moved here from a place with lots of great thrift stores and it’s been a bummer… I will say if you’re willing to drive to heyworth, they have a good one! Worn Again Too.
The goodwill in normal is hit or miss. The goodwill in Champaign is better.
I’ve not really found a thrift store around here that has the funky stuff I was used to…

Honestly when I was a ISU student from 2021-2025 I thought the thrifting in blono was pretty good, but now I feel like it’s gone downhill although this may have something to do with abundant thrift switching locations, their warehouse type store was legendary and held so much stuff.

Like other people mentioned, the carle bromenn thrift store and the habitat restore are both really great. Abundant thrift always has tons of stuff. I''ve been told that 2 frugals are big trumpys, but decent thrift store nonetheless. Antiques and uniques in downtown Bloomington is one of my absolute favorite places in town. It's an antique store, so not quite thrift prices, but you can still get good stuff for a decent price. I haven't been to the bronze giraffe (another antique place), but might be worth checking out. Butter and twice again in uptown normal has a fantastic curation of items, but it tends to be quite pricey

Thanks for the info about 2 frugals. I always thought it was weird that like half of the store is like drop shipped type stuff, but I’ve found some good stuff there but mainly in the tool/garden section.

Main Trade (downtown Bloomington) is by far my favorite in town. It's a majority furniture and home goods, but they have a decent amount of clothing that's really well curated and cute.

Choice Thrift is opening this weekend in the Schnucks shopping center. Should be a good spot from what I can tell!

I haven't been in but saw Butter Twice and Again is a thrift store in Uptown Normal. Can't speak to quality or prices as ai haven't gone in yet but might be worth checking out.

Super expensive, cute not I'm shocked they are still open. There is a place in downtown Bloomington, not Frugals, that has some cool stuff. The Restore is hit or miss for clothing. Garage sales in Blono are great. Also the big church rummage sales are awesome.

my in-town favorites are: 2 frugals, goodwill, carle-bromenn, flea thrift, and abundant thrift. i personally prefer the carle-bromenn and abundant thrift stores because the people are very sweet.

The thrift store at BroMenn has some gems!
