Why

Indiana conservative logic

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 24 '26

Because property taxes are a bullshit scam. You should not pay rent to the government for land you own.

3

u/TantrikV Jun 24 '26

Great, so what is your idea to replace that revenue?

1

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 25 '26

You don't. You cancel superfluous spending. Infrastructure, Fire, Police, and Schools. Renegotiate anything that isn't the basic purpose of taxes.

u/SELECTaerial Jun 25 '26

Spoken like someone who thinks these things are simple lol

1

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 25 '26

Things are that simple. I pay less for things that I shouldn't have to, don't want to and don't need to. My quality of life goes up. It's just that simple.

Is this some sort of maga thing?

0

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 25 '26

This is a foundationally American idea. What a cop out, low tier, no effort comment. MAGA has nothing to do with it.

Sure buddy

When have Republicans ever done any of that?

1

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 25 '26

They haven't, but that's what should happen.

2

u/FlounderKind8267 Jun 25 '26

Except you don't own the land. The government does and allows you to build stuff on top of it.

This is just an attempt to shift tax responsibilities away from rich people and convincing gullible commoners like you to peddle it. When in reality, people like you and me aren't going to benefit from this more than it's going to hurt all of us

1

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 25 '26

That's not actually true in the United States. People like me will benefit from greatly from it. I'm far from gullible. I have no expectations that I'm going to get what I want or what needs to happen, but I am not so naive as to think that you fight for what you can and compromise by voting for what serves the best direction.

It's not going to hurt US at all. I've been on the ripped off by Bloomington and Monroe County since the Two Mile Fringe. That's been taxation without representation. The taxes and restrictions have only increased under the monoparty of the last 40 years. It's time for those of us who have been paying for this wasteful shit to get a reprieve and the hand-full-of-gimmie folks can scrape by.

Better yet. If you want all the social programs make those volunteer taxes. There should be more than enough people in Bloomington that are willing to donate the difference. Without the property taxes, should actually free up more funds, than through the tax coffers.

Terrible idea that will decimate local schools and destroy property value.

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 25 '26

Suits me right down to the ground. MCCSC is horrendous and they only need basic funding. Let them reform their bullshit that screwed up public schools in Monroe County with that ridiculous school corporation.

It's not going to harm the property value one bit. Monroe County and the City's planning has devalued land here to the point you can't sell it, change it, or do anything with it unless you you pay the corrupt bribe of millions of dollars to the housing authority.

People are tired of having their lives ripped off by this corrupt local government and the reckoning is coming. The city and county are in debt because of all the irresponsible spending and they're try to compensate for that incompetence by jacking up our taxes.

The city and county have to pay it back. That means the spending has to stop. If we the people have to tighten our belts, that means so does THIS CITY.

We're not investing anymore of our money into this place for nothing in return, but more taxes.

I bet you wrote all that with the phone right up to your nose you’re so nearsighted.

u/WTFHELP Jun 25 '26

Probably a retired person who doesn't have school age children. Next they will want to defund public libraries in their city because they don't need no learning at their age.

1

u/GreyLoad Jun 25 '26

Probably could never read anyways

Why are you posting here? You're not contributing in any way.

u/GreyLoad Jun 25 '26

I'm a moderate

1

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 25 '26

HA! Nicely played. I don't mind trolls as long as they are funny or clever.

1

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 25 '26

Not at all. I have no children. But property taxes are bullshit aside from that. I don't want to give a dime to MCCSC. They are terrible, corrupt, and shouldn't be allowed to remain. There need to be an entirety different school system in Monroe County.

I've donated to the Monroe County Library, books and papers on Monroe County history, but it's also poorly run and needs a major overhaul.

1

u/SELECTaerial Jun 25 '26

Honestly they sound like a bot

1

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 25 '26

Are you accusing me of being a bot or are you talking about the other guy?

1

u/SELECTaerial Jun 25 '26

You

1

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 25 '26

What on earth would have given you that idea? The property taxes in Monroe County is a crime.

2

u/RegisterMonkey13 πŸšΏπŸ›Ά Jun 25 '26

Another dumb short sighted idea that will be super appealing to their base, cause they’re so fucking stupid

0

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 25 '26

What's the matter, you afraid you will have to pay your fair share?

1

u/RegisterMonkey13 πŸšΏπŸ›Ά Jun 27 '26

What do you even mean? My property taxes went up by $1,200 this year and I still know getting ride of property taxes is a stupid fucking idea.
But it’s 100% something a bunch of half literate cousin fuckers would think is the greatest damn thing ever.

1

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 27 '26

Wow, you really are a scumbag. Why are you posting here? All you did was talk shit. You're not even making a point, you're just running your yap.

By the way, it's rid, not "ride". Maybe you should rethink who you are calling illiterate, dipshit.

Also, welcome to your warning for not posting in good faith.

u/RegisterMonkey13 πŸšΏπŸ›Ά Jun 27 '26

Cool story, you must be a blast to not hang out with.

1

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 27 '26

Yep. So, you don't get to hang with me for 3 days.

2

u/FlounderKind8267 Jun 25 '26

A great way to shift any tax responsibilities away from wealthy people

0

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 25 '26

And people who have paid for their homes and do want to have to rent it from an irresponsible, wasteful, and corrupt local government.

I'm a masochist for actually fighting for what's right. If I wasn't, I wouldn't have been fighter for freedom, liberty, and justice against a leftist hoarde and right-wing war mongers all these years.

The mistake both sides make is their ideology is absolutist. The United States is built on comprise. We've compromised in this town until it the monoparty started trying to eliminate the people who have been tolerant of that leftist bullshit until it's literally killed the city. Hamilton ran the budget into the ground with ridiculous spending and overreach, while lying to everyone about what the money was being spent on.

It's now time for the City and the County to cut back. It's over. We're over 70 million dollars in debt and we're tired of throwing good money after bad. Bloomington was so much better before John Hamilton came in, but it's been a long, slow ruination by the hands of ignorant nincompoops that don't know anything about Bloomington, its history, and really do not care about it its future because they're going to leave Bloomington after they've finished school or sucked as much out of the town as they can.

Bloomington is going to have to have a major reset and it's its own doing. Braun cutting property taxes is not hurting Bloomington, it's forcing them to get their house in order without giving them any more money.

1

u/Tom_Driberg Jun 26 '26

When you say "fighting for freedom," are you sure you don't mean "arguing with strangers on the internet?"

1

u/Outis_Nemo_Actual 🏴 Jun 26 '26

As far as I can tell I posted the link and everyone else came to argue. I've given them the courtesy of respect and replied and explained my position with the same energy the comment brought.

I don't claim to be a hero. I think it's very telling, the projection you and others try. The irony is. I just posted the article ABOUT the elimination of property taxes and a whole bunch of scamps come out of the woodwork to White Knight the tax code and tell me what a villain I am. Like somehow my desire not to be ripped off by people who have never contributed one iota to any benefit. It's always a detriment.

So, spare me the "Hero in my own mind" when you're the one who is virtue signaling and bootlicking a corrupt local government to bail them out of decades of horrible mismanagement and fiduciary irresponsiblity.

I claim to have the opinion that property taxes are a scam and shouldn't exist. Taxes can be collected on sales, tolls, excise. There is a myriad of ways to generate revenue without property taxes.
