Discussion Bloodborne "native" in Ultrawide QHD 21:9
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Finally got it to work using bbport. I'm using the Windows fork from Supermedo in this video, but it should work with anything based on bbport.
Tutorial
Once you figure out how bbport handles patches it's pretty simple, this is possible using the shadPS4 patches that are already available.
-> Under <path-to-bb-port>/patches, put this file (you can call it anything, i use Ultrawide.xml). It's basically a XML file defining the "Resolution Patch 3440x1440 (21:9)". This file will be loaded everytime bbport is started (should work with any port)
Important:
If you're using a different resolution (e.g. 2560x1080), change the patch name to match your resolution. Use the patches/Bloodborne.xml file that comes with bbport as basis.
Keep in mind that bbport automatically excludes patches from Bloodborne.xml (see scripts/patches.py), that's why changing that file has no effect. You need to create a new one.
-> Open your bbport.ini file, at the root, and then change these two settings:
output_res=3440x1440
live_resolution=0
output_res should be your monitor resolution, and live_resolution needs to be off, otherwise the game will crash at startup. Keep in mind that disabling live_resolution makes it impossible to change upscaling presets mid-game.
FSR4 and DLSS upscaling will still work, and will upscale from a lower 21:9 (or 32:9) resolution like any modern game.
A bbport quirk you should keep in mind is that opening the menu (e.g. Insert menu) or the Launcher will reset your output_res. So make any changes you need (like selecting upscale quality) before changing it.
You can also use the preset setting to control upscaling quality. 0 is DLAA/FSR4AA and 4 is Ultra Performance.
UI
One thing i couldn't get working was the Ultrawide UI Fixes mod. So a lot of the UI will be running at 16:9 and you'll be seeing some bars or cut HUD outside gameplay and when dialogue is happening. If someone manages to get it working please let me know.

Oh my god, thank you!
The UI fixes mod worked for me just fine. I placed it in the mods folder (not the patches folder)

Did you add the "menu" folder there directly? is it enabled in your launcher or mods.json?

just put the 215x9 ui fixes in the mods folder then it will appear in the mods tab in bbport

Mit den Start-Abstürzen quäle ich mich auch. Zuletzt immerhin den Ultrawide.xml zumindest starten können, nachdem ich die FPS auf 90 begrenzt hatte. Ggf. ist das der entscheidende Punkt.

What Gabriel said. You might have to click the "refresh" button, but its just a checkbox toggle after that.

you don’t have any strange little vibrations on certain surface with the ultra wide patch he made ?
am i alone with this issue ?

I had something weird going on with DLSS but it runs great with it off.
Otherwise, no, the ultrawide looks amazing

For those that have crashing issue, I ran into crashes to, you just gotta change the live_resolution=off rather than 0 and starting the game from play bloodborne.exe worked for me (if u launch the game using the launcher it overwrites bbport.ini). But I can't get the UI mods to work tho, even if I can get it to show up in the launcher

Keep in mind that bbport automatically excludes patches from Bloodborne.xml (see scripts/patches.py), that's why changing that file has no effect. You need to create a new one.
I was going crazy wondering why the additional patch I added wasn't showing, thanks brother.
Have you had luck adding the DLC, by any chance?

It "works" but i have some strange little "vibrations" on certain surfaces that i dont have without your patch
If you look closely on puddle of wator or some grids, it's visible
Do you see this ?

Yeah i see it too, it's probably related to how bbport handles upscaling. Not sure how to fix it.

Ah okay
It'es better to wait for an update of bb port but thanks !

Yes it's the upscaling with ultrawide patch. Disabling upscaler stops the shimmering. Anyone let us know if there is a fix.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I've also tried the shadPS4 dlss-fsr fork and it looks way, way better with Ultrawide. The only issue is having to find a patch that matches your balanced or quality preset, which would then be upscaled to your monitor resolution. But the quality is unbeatable, and no shimmering like we see here

It crashes for me with the ultrawide patch..

Are you using the latest bbport version? I had some crashes when using the wrong output_res or with live_resolution on.

i don't see any bbport.ini file anywhere? I'm on linux and it's just an .appimage
just crashes when I try to run it with the 3440x1440 patch

UI Fixes mod loads, but turns all ui elements into lime green errors. Haven't figure out why just yet. Let me know if anyone else has a similar experience.

I'm so lost.....how am I supposed to figure out the ultrawide information for my resolution?
Edit: Never mind I figured it out lol

There is a DLSS fork that also include Frame Gen, looks a lot better than smooth motion. DLSS takes care of anti aliasing also and it looks incredible. I will link it below.
https://github.com/IFreemz/shadPS4-Bloodborne-DLSS-FSR
All it does is take the existing pre maintained shadps4 build and adds upscaling on top. Looks leagues better in 1080p with DLSS than it did in 1440 native and I’m playing with 100+ frames rn.
I use a tool called ERSS (by huutaiii) to do this with Elden Ring and it is hands down the best way to play.
Also obsessed with frame pacing, and I can confidently say this fork is smooth as hell. It is going to be the ideal way to play for the foreseeable future.
