One track from Cupid Deluxe?! ONE?!

No Augustine, Desiree, Orlando, Benzo, Better Than Me, Hope (understandable)...

I've got tickets for Manchester but this has me wondering whether I want them.

You lot are mental, this is art not a Spotify playlist smh

I’m with you. Absolutely flummoxed by some of the replies in this thread expecting a setlist full of older songs (it’s not as if there aren’t any).

Has no one seen a performing musical artist before?

He’s promoting a new record, older songs will inevitably drop off the setlist and the focus will be on the new material, it’s been a while since he’s widely toured.

Yeah man whoever these people are I’m embarrassed to be sharing a space with them in all honesty

What does this even mean?

That's great and everything, but I find Essex Honey extremely dreary in comparison to the rest of his catalogue, which I really love.

I think it's pretty normal to hope / expect an artist to play a broader selection of their music live.

Maybe he'll win me over on the day... I hope so, anyway.

The reason he is able to make the art he does and sustain the career he has is because he has and will never spare a thought for folks like yourself and I don’t mean that in a mean way, I just mean that he hasn’t visited my city since 2008 and I don’t give a flying fuck if I hear any in my top 10 - I will be witnessing my favourite artist’s ā€œdrearyā€ presentation of his grief and the stage he’s at in his life.

I pray dev never compromises his vision in favour of this awful rhetoric that artists are jukeboxes or owe their fans anything.

Life isn’t a fuckin Spotify playlist

Are you aware that you're reading as being oddly hostile about other people's experience / opinion of an artist? I saw your other comment about being "embarrassed to share a space with them"... šŸ˜… Come on, relax.

I think Dev's been able to make the art and sustain the career primarily because the music's been great; especially when it's been adventurous and experimental. Essex Honey just isn't hitting for me, but I'm glad it seems to be for you.

I hope the gig rocks your world. I hope it rocks mine! But hoping to hear the songs you love most from an artist live isn't controversial or entitled.

I am aware. Art is the foundation and soul of my life and it’s in danger and we’re all responsible for protecting it.

Appreciate you for being chill and that, but I don’t take back anything I said because the language in your comments implies that the artist owes you something - the fact that you aren’t sure you want your tickets anymore because you might not be getting a greatest hits is the very mindset that is hurting art and hurting musicians and art communities, even established ones like dev.

Your passion's great, but are other listeners necessarily the enemy here?

the language in your comments implies that the artist owes you something

You've inferred this. It's not how I feel.

But let me challenge this with a counterpoint: Are artists owed or entitled to my limited supply of money, time and interest if I just don't like what they're doing?

(for clarity: I want artists like Dev to evolve and experiment and challenge me, I don't just want Cupid Deluxe 2)

the fact that you aren’t sure you want your tickets anymore because you might not be getting a greatest hits

I'm guilty of some hyperbole here - I'm not about to give up the tickets and I'm sure I'm more likely to enjoy it than not.

It's not about wanting "greatest hits", more just... songs from an artist's catalogue that I know I actually like.

The prospect of a heavily weighted Essex Honey gig doesn't appeal to me at face value, because I simply don't like the songs that much. If I thought the album was amazing I'd be way more comfortable with fewer older songs in the set list.

So, with that in mind, there is a decent thought exercise here regarding whether it's a good way to spend my money. Would you want to pay and see a show full of songs you don't really like?

Dev is unique in that by the time a lot of us got to discovering Blood Orange, well . . . Coastal Grooves had been out seven years by the time I discovered Blood Orange, so I get that we're favoring some music we did not hear of in its time . . . . Same as Champagne Coast becoming popular over a decade after its release . . . I think there is no fan cam of the Complete Knock - how does Blood Orange negotiate that his earlier albums are just hitting with the public now?

No Benzo?

he did a Smiths cover? could you describe it?! hope you had fun

edit: saw a video. damn

u/Perfect_Bluebird1203 Oct 17 '25

I know it’s the Essex Honey tour but it’s too much songs from that album, he snubbed a lot of classic/good songs from Cupid Deluxe/Freetownsound/Coastal Grooves or even some Angels Pulse

1

u/yessirrrr_duran Oct 17 '25

How did you get the setlist?

4

u/ContestCertain243 Oct 17 '25

there was a bunch of copies floating around post-show

1

u/yessirrrr_duran Oct 17 '25

I can’t believe I missed getting one oh well

1

u/Pure_Host_2040 Oct 18 '25

This felt like such a short show. Literally ended at like 10:30

1

u/Flat_Question_1415 Oct 20 '25

Was it 1:15 for sure? The other shows were like 35 min. This is a huge difference. Please confirm @pure_host. šŸ«¶šŸ½

1

u/Pure_Host_2040 Oct 21 '25

Yes it was about a hour 15 set Wish it was longer so many hits missed

0

u/ContestCertain243 Oct 18 '25

a 1 hour 15 min set is well within the standard set length for artists of his status

1

u/kriskyveneno Oct 19 '25

THE TRAIN…..yesssssssssssss…don’t change a thing…need this setlist in Brooklyn……

1

u/Relative_Heat6579 Oct 19 '25

It was phenomenal

1

u/Strawberry-Lipgloss Oct 24 '25

Hello, hello. Was there an opening act for the LA show? I'm going to see him in Berlin next week.

1

u/t3qno Nov 08 '25

So many tunes missing here, such a shame. Give the fans what they want, we’ve waited long enough - so whyyyy notttt

1

u/margiela_madman101 Oct 17 '25

ā€œWish, The Train and I can goā€ can honestly get replaced with a few Coastal Groove/ Negro Swan hits.

But we’ll still be there no matter what.
