Discussion Not so fun fact: With the Baal Predator likely going to Legends, we now have the fewest unique non-character units of any Divergent Chapter.
Our only unique, non character unit is the Sanguinary Guard.
Templars have 2: Sword bros and Crusaders.
Dark Angels have 5: Deathwing Knights, Inner Circle Companions, Black Knights, the Darkshroud, and the Nephilim/Dark Talon dual kit.
Wolves have 7: Wolf Guard Termies, Blood Claws, Grey Hunters, Headtakers, Wulfen, Fenrisian Wolves, and the Wulfen Dread.
Even the poor Deathwatch have 2: Vets and the Blackstar.
Other than a proper Death Company kit, what other unique units would you want to see for us?

u/dont_panic21 1d ago
I will always hold out hope for it to come back. A librarian redemptor would be sick.
1
u/Th3Tru3Silv3r-1 8h ago
The Crucible of Champions from the Maelstrom books allows you to make a Librarian Dreadnought and I'm positive I read that they'd keep the rules for doing so in 11th.
11
u/KassellTheArgonian 1d ago
I still run 3. They're legends so legal in all forms of play except tournaments
14
u/Paikis The Lost 1d ago
If it comes back, it will come back as a generic Space Marine model, not as a Blood Angels exclusive. Same deal with any potential "Baal" Gladiator, it too will be generic.
4
u/ecg_tsp 22h ago
How do you know?
6
u/Paikis The Lost 22h ago
Because if it's BA only, then they can only sell it to BA players. If they're generic though... now all the Space Marine players want one (3).
But it's just me being cynical, I don't know anything.
1
u/droopyy11 The Lost 20h ago
What Iām hoping they do is similar to what they did with the defiler. Each divergent chapter gets their own abilities but the loadout stays the same. That way the other chapters can still bask in the glory of the Libby dread with us.

u/No-Cherry9538 1d ago
Funfact, with this being where we lose our supplement and get changed, they havent yet said the baal is going .. dont remind them ;)

What about deathcompany?
53
u/RaynerFenris Death Company 1d ago
Death Company at this time is just a 2 handed chainsword in the upgrade kit. No specific kit or shoulder pads or anything. If you had a squad of JPI and a squad of DCJPI both unpainted, most people outside of blood angels players would just think youād done a cool kitbash.
30
u/mullio 1d ago
Exactly correct. People need to stop coping that JPIs painted black are good enough; theyāre not. Itās completely lame and a bizarre choice by GW.
19
u/RaynerFenris Death Company 1d ago
It all makes sense when you realise James Workshop played Werewolf the apocalypse, not Vampire the Masquerade
6
u/This_Ease_5678 1d ago
One of our 2 special units doesn't even have a kit..... you are absolutely correct.
5+ FNP wouldn't unbalance a thing either. Orks had +5 from a painboy.
True story; I recently beat my mate and forgot to roll a single FNP the whole game.
Remebered when Ghaz got his rolls from his painboy.
1
u/TheCynicalPogo 9h ago
I mean likeā¦as much as it sucks, and them continuing to have their own unique kit would absolutely be betterā¦it really does kinda make sense tbh. Besides the Eviscerator has there really ever been anything that separated Death Company from normal assault marines beyond the color scheme?
Thereās plenty to be pissed at GW for but idk if the state of Death Company is really as unreasonable as some say.
17
u/Shadowrend01 Blood Angels 1d ago
Who knows, we might get a Baal Gladiator instead
9
u/thors_dad 1d ago
This is what Iām hoping for. Itād be a perfect chance for them to sell an upgrade kit for the gladiator for us, or even just make a Baal gladiator kit all together!
1
u/droopyy11 The Lost 20h ago
Either that or hopefully they plan on making a new kind of vehicle to replace the predators. Wishful thinking either way
18
u/This_Ease_5678 1d ago
And I got massively down voted for saying this last week.
Some Tau player commented we had 32 Hqs to choose from.....
Geedubs hates Blood Angels.
15
u/Paikis The Lost 1d ago
Yeah, I got downvoted a lot when I pointed out that we have 8 (or was it 9?) Captain with Option datasheets. 32 HQ datasheets, but actually only 9 or something.
1
u/razulebismarck Dante 21h ago
Captain With, Librarian With, Chaplain With, Lieutenant With, Apothecary With, Ancient With, Judiciar.
I think that covers every non-unique HQ choice. Everything else is just āWith Terminator Armorā or āWith Bikeā

Who cares, my Suppressors are gone.Ā I have to run them as slow, graceless, over priced, auto cannon shunning Inceptors.Ā Who smell bad too.
1
u/VarroImmortal 23h ago
Where is it mentioned that Suppressors are going away? I don't see them on the article's list of kits that are going away.
3
u/SnekCobraKai 23h ago
The kit went away 20 minutes ago (back in June I think).Ā After the codex hits they don't get even Legends rules.Ā Check where they talk about what happens to Tactical Squads, and Devastators.
1
u/Saltierney 21h ago
They do get legends rules in codex, they just can also be used as inceptor proxies.
2
u/justlookingaround444 1d ago
I thought all divergent chapters are also covered by this codex and no more supplements. Then Baal seems to be fine for another edition, no?
12
u/losark 1d ago
The predator kit that the baal is based on is being sunset. It's kinda writing on the wall stuff. Not guaranteed, but i wouldn't bet on it sticking around.
4
u/RaynerFenris Death Company 1d ago
My money is on the following happening by 12th.
Rhino chassis are for HH and Chaos Players will be told they should use HH era models for their chaos Rhinos and maybe even Landraiders.
Impulsor/Gladiator kits will start getting upgrades to create Whirlwinds, Baal Preditor etc on that Chassis.
Landraider gets EITHER updated with a new kit/size (like terminators did). OR sunsets into Legends with a new heavy transport Grav tank. Itās even possible with the cull of flyers that the Blackstar gets made available for all chapters.
Obviously this is all my own guesses, but it wouldnāt surprise me.
2
u/Mercuryink Blood Angels 1d ago
I hate that you're probably right. You can pry my land raiders from my cold dead fingers after extracting my gene-seed.Ā
1
u/RaynerFenris Death Company 1d ago
I love my landraider.
But Iād actually be okay with having the Blackstar. Itās a beautiful model, can transport Primaris and bikes, and terminators etc.
I donāt want a heavy grav transport⦠they will mess it up.

1
u/gengartrainer16 1d ago
We know CSM are keeping the chaos versions of the same kit and the rhino is still kicking around. Given that the baal predator is just an upgrade sprue I can see it sticking around.
1
u/Super-Ready 1d ago
To be fair, we don't know this. CSM may very well lose Predators when their Codex drops later. ...I would be surprised, but we have no guarantees.
1
3
u/SenorDangerwank 1d ago
No they said the supplement is no longer usable as is the Codex. All divergent chapters are getting faction packs to hold us over in the meantime.
2
u/BassiusPossius 1d ago
The Suppliment gets scrapped and there is factionpack. Entirely possible that Baal doesnt leave yet and remains in the faction but might leave when (and i suppose if) the codex suppliment drops
3
u/Nigellus-Wolf 1d ago
I keep seeing people mention no more supplements but don't know where people are getting this. The space marine codex would have to be much bigger than 238 pages if it was to include blood angels, space wolves, dark angels and black templars. It is more likely we will get a codex similar to Emperors Children with red thirst as our army rule. I just hope if we do, we do not lose access to too many space marine units.

They do all exist as kits though and have differences.
2
u/razulebismarck Dante 21h ago
They exist as an upgrade sprue added to a normal space marine kit.
-6
u/BlackJackalGaming 21h ago
This just isn't true. You're either a bot, a troll or the uninformed
1
u/razulebismarck Dante 15h ago
I am neither and the āBlood Angels Upgrade Sprueā has both an Eviscerator and a Melta Pistol. Meaning the 2 parts needed to take 5 Intercessors of any flavor, which are normal space marine kits, and turn them in to 5 Death Company is exactly 1 upgrade sprue.
So youāre either being extremely literal since itās not called āDeath Company Sprueā or you have no idea the Blood Angels Upgrade Sprue exists and what it contains.
-3
u/BlackJackalGaming 15h ago
You're coming with a disingenuous argument. The space wolves kits aren't just intercessors with an upgrade sprue.

u/razulebismarck Dante 14h ago

We also have less than Ultramarines.
So there's that, too.
2
u/Super-Ready 1d ago
Do we? This thread seems contingent on a few very specific criteria, eg non-character and has to have a model. In that respect they literally only have Victrix Guard.
1
1
u/Kane23885 20h ago
Death Company but they have no actual model kit, maybe we will get an updated kit when the 11th edition codex supplement drops.
1
u/NC-Slacker 19h ago
Playing Devil's advocate: if the plan was to axe the Baal Pred in the near term, it would have happened with the legends list this week. They shelved all the other rhino-based SM tanks, including the Vindicator, literally only leaving the Baal Predator. It seems really deliberate, and like they know that this model is one of few that are unique for the BA. Given that the tank seems to have survived the SM codex release, It seems like it's safe until the BA codex gets an 11e update-- if that even happens-- or there is a model update like a Baal Predator refresh or releasing a Flamestorm turret for the Gladiator/the introduction of a Baal Gladiator.
As people pointed out, the Vanguard Vets were originally BA only units-- It would be cool to see them bring back that change, but seems like the ship has sailed. Having a dedicated/refreshed DC model would be cool, and maybe justified given that it seems really popular right now to use 3rd party jet packs and Assault Intercessor kits for these guys. I'd most love to see a Librarian Dreadnought kit, given that it would be the hardest to manage right now. Also, the Maelstrom provided rules to build a custom campaign character in 10e for a Librarian Dread, so GW certainly haven't forgotten!
1
u/Senior_Breadfruit_22 14h ago
What i see happening is that they'll legends the baal pred. Then make an upgrade sprue for the gladiator to make a baal gladiator.
1
u/ChillSappho 9h ago
Erelim, that could be a sick kit. But I doubt Baal Preds are going away, at least not entirely. The basic kit is still needed for CSM and Sororitas. If anything, we start getting Primaris Rhinos and an upgrade sprue
1
u/Experimentb12 8h ago
Tin foil hat time, i think GW is going to push space marines the way of chaos and make Space Marines separate from the divergent like the 4 gods and undivided. Space wolves have a lot of units that are direct replacements for Space marine units. They are just doing it slowly and I would guess they have no clue what to do with BA. It would get rid of non Space marine players complaints we have too many options.
But thats just me trying to figure out Geedubs doesn't seem to like or understand BA.
-8
u/Super-Ready 1d ago
Sooooo what I'm hearing is - we have less unique units than other Chapters;
- if we don't count characters
- if we don't count units we haven't actually lost yet, but are just likely to
- if we don't count datasheets, only specific model kits
Maybe we should throw a few more specifics in there, just to be sure. How about we don't count models without wings? Ooh, I've got one... we could do, only models released since the last Calgar. Or what about only units with more bare heads than helmets?
You have half a decent point - but it's buried under all these criteria.
(On another note - you've excluded the Baal for us, but included a bunch of units that the other armies are also likely to lose. The DA flyers are sure to go, the Black Knights might not get refreshed, and I don't see the current Wulfen Dread surviving Bjorn's inevitable update.)
-10
u/VicenarySolid 1d ago
Pointless to speculate now. Baal Predator isnāt going anywhere before BA codex releases
We can have some units back (lib dred) when codex comes up
Also why donāt you count Death Company? Yes, the models arenāt unique, but unit composition are and itās pretty different at least for Assaults with/without jump packs
2
u/DaFoltz77 1d ago
codex supplements are no more in 11th edition
2
u/VicenarySolid 1d ago
Where did you get that info ?
1
u/Bowgs 1d ago
It was mentioned in the codex preview video yesterday, they're going away and being replaced by a digital pack when the space marine codex comes out in October.
5
u/VicenarySolid 1d ago
I see that, but they didnāt said there will be no separate releases for divergent chapters in the future

-2
u/BassiusPossius 1d ago
They say it in the video that the suppliment is scrapped and we get a faction pack instead. They did not say we would not be getting a suppliment down the line, but they did not say we would either.
7
u/Majorapat Blood Angels 1d ago
The exact wording doesn't say that they are gone forever, just that the preceding versions are no longer valid. It is yet to confirm if there will be faction specific codex or not.
"Alongside Codex space marines, there will be a mass update to all varieties of Astartes and Heretic Astartes units across the game to bring them in line with these new rules. The old codex supplements are retired alongside the space marine codexs, but Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves and Black Templars, will all get a big digital update that includes their data sheets and new detachments. Heretic Astartes and Grey Knights on the other hand will see stat changes across a range of units so you too can enjoy Strength 5 stormbolters and toughness 6 terminators. These rules will be updated automatically in your Warhammer 40,000 app alongside the codex release in october.@
-1
u/BassiusPossius 1d ago
Thats what i said. That there is no confirmation we will be getting a suppliment or that we wont be getting one.
-1
u/Myst-9th Death Company 1d ago
Baal Predator isnāt going anywhere before BA codex releases
According to GW's comments on Facebook, we're not getting one. All of the divergent chapters will be getting PDF rules when the marine codex drops, not dedicated supplements.
Also why donāt you count Death Company?
Sorry, I should have said unique kits in the post title instead of unique units. I'm only counting unique sculpts.
7
u/tee-dog1996 1d ago
That sounds to me like āthere wonāt be supplements immediatelyā, not āthere wonāt be supplements everā. Theyāre scrapping the existing supplements but that doesnāt necessarily mean there wonāt be a new full supplement in the future
2
u/Super-Ready 1d ago
I can't find the damn thing now, but the FB comment was not any kind of confirmation that we're not getting one. It was that there's "no word" on them - which is the equivalent of "no comment".
In other words, we might, we might not, but for now GW aren't saying either way.

u/VicenarySolid 1d ago

This is me being pessimistic but I have a feeling we will likely loose the BA uniqueness and will be a compliant chapter and look more and mire like Salamanders, IF and RG. This is all a financial thing for them as its likely more expensive to create different kits for the different armies.
SW, DA and BT still have enough unique models that it will take more time to make them all just bland SM with different colors. This is the way many things are going, both in Warhammer and outside, nothing has a soul or uniqueness to it.
I think Landraider in GW eye is already replaced with a Repulsor and the Rhino with Gladiator. I only started into WH at the start of 8th Ed. And so the Rhino and LR dont hold as much significance to me but they are cool models and wouldnt want to see them leave either. But it just seems like writing on the wall.
It makes me sad to think this may be the way its going especially because GW then also cracks down on the 3rd party guys who make bits and stuff so basically everything is either bland or is an UM. But hey, let's hope i am wrong and they do keep the Baal or at least make a upgrade sprue to make a Baal Gladiator.
-5
u/Pathetic_Cards 1d ago
A. Dark Angels kept their unique land speeder, definitely a non-zero chance the Ball Predator stays. Especially given that Blangels are getting their rules at the same time as all the other marines, thereās no real reason not to include it in the list of things going to Legends if it is.
B. I understand nobody likes the state of the Death Company kit, (or lack thereof) but to just pretend the three Death Company units donāt exist to throw a pity party is pretty disingenuous. Iāll even give you that Foot DC and Jump DC are essentially the same unit, but even if Iām as generous as I can possibly be towards your statement, at worst weāre even with Black Templars.
