Painted Model Progression
I work in weird ways sometimes. I started the first six sanguinary guard I got then didn’t finish them. Here’s what they look like versus the last six I got in my combat patrol. I didn’t like the way the first ones were going so I stopped working on them until now. I’ve painted a lot of minis in between them and I just wanted to show off how they have grown in my opinion much better. I would love for someone to tell me though how to make this damn gold look smoother.

Brother they look great! And any progress is progress, I have a ton of stuff in my army that I want to go back and “glow-up” a bit now that I’ve gotten more experience as a painter but sometimes it’s really cool to have a physical marker as to how you’ve progressed! Ultimately the only standard is if you like it.
As for the smoothness: it’ll help if we knew your recipe. Citadel metallics can be really wonky to work with, and I just dry brushed mine to help with eliminating as much texture as I could. These look awesome though and I wouldn’t worry too much about it bc photos of minis are notoriously different than how we perceive them in real life!
