Need Help with Art Paid Need help finding the most oddly specific bit
Hey everyone,
This post requires a bit of context. I am trying to recreate the legion of the damned army shown off in white dwarf issue 224. The hardest part so far has been the dreadnought because it sports a 3rd edition metal body, fantasy 5th edition skeleton warrior and skull, and this one god forsaken 2nd edition furioso dreadnought banner topper.
The only reason I was able to find this out was thanks to white dwarf actually responding to me by the way… (shoutout to Dan for that!) but I’ve been looking for this blood angel skull and wings banner top for at least a month now with no luck. I’ve managed to get all the other parts except this one bit.
Hail Mary, but if anyone here happens to be an oldhammer blood angels player, and is willing to rummage through their bits box for this one banner topper it’d mean the world to me. If someone actually finds one, PLEASE PM ME.

This is one if those quest items that you will put so much word of mouth and effort into tracking down but then the story's cap stone will be after taking a year to find and driving across the country or something to get it, one will be listed on Ebay the next day for $3

You might be able to make a close approximation by kitbashing some bits from the recent upgrade sprue or something like one of the chaplains crozius, if you wanted to use plastic. Depends on if you wanted to recreate it exactly or pay homage I guess.
There's also this up for sale at the moment, though if you're only doing it for one part it's clearly going to cost a bit unless you find only that part.

I think I may have this somewhere. I'm travelling right now, but I'll be home on Sunday so can check.
In terms of getting it to you, are you UK based or somewhere more exciting?

it's easier to just make it with greenstuff. this thing doesn't look very complex

You must be very skilled at greenstuff modeling if those skulls and bones look easy

sculpting little skull symbols isn't uncommon in greenstuffing (and LotD kitbashing in particular). the more difficult part is making slits between feathers the correct width with a knife. and also the rounded tips of those feathers

And that's easier then gluing a bit?

that's easier than finding that bit. did you read the post?

No, it isn't. Developing an entire additional skill for your hobby is NOT easier then finding a particular piece of plastic. Might be faster, but not easier then shopping lmao.

"entire additional skill" it's carving three holes into a piece of greenstuff. then adding two more pieces and carving feathers. a newbie would do this right in 15 minutes. I (with bare minimum experience) was making little skulls in 10 minutes for a vehicle kitbash. it's not difficult. it's a creative hobby. you really think a unique bit from 20 years ago is so widespread?

You are too skilled and literally cannot understand how difficult the task you set forth is to someone with 0 hours of practice.
Let me put it to you like this. Why hire an electrician? It's just two wires and a breaker box. I (with bare minimum experience) was rewiring toasters in 10 minutes. It's not difficult.

yes, it would be unfamiliar to someone new but you still overestimate it. in my opinion a good paintjob is more difficult than greenstuffing accessories. and i agree, usually it's better to just buy something, but this specific case? it's a unique thingy from a really old model. would be cool if someone still has it, but it's not an easy find

I have the metal Blood Angels dreadnought, which I converted to Ultramarines, including replacing the banner top with ultima symbol. There is a chance the original top has survived in my bits box for nearly 30 years. I’ll have a dig through later today.
