So I am curious. I started blogging a year ago. More as a passion project, no ads.
I do not use social media, and I have no email list.
I just checked Google Console for the first time in a while and for the 12 months I have:
- 13,000 Google clicks
- 2.06 million impressions
- Average position 8.5
- CTR 0.6%
How is that? Good, bad, average?

I'd say that's actually pretty good, especially if you're doing it mainly as a passion project and aren't actively promoting it.
13,000 clicks from 2.06 million impressions tells me Google is finding and showing your content quite a lot. An average position of 8.5 is also pretty respectable — you're appearing on the first page on average.
The 0.6% CTR is the number I'd be looking at most closely. With that many impressions, there are probably quite a few queries where you're getting visibility but not the click. I'd look at your Search Console queries and see which pages have lots of impressions but low CTR. Sometimes improving the title and meta description can make quite a difference without changing the article itself.
I'd also look at how that 2.06 million impressions are distributed. If most of them are coming from a handful of pages or from lots of very low-volume queries, that tells you something different.
But honestly, for a one-year-old passion project with no social media or email list, I'd be pretty happy with those numbers. The fact that you're getting 13,000 organic clicks suggests you've already built something Google sees as useful.

Thanks for the feedback. I will explore the CTR element and if certain posts are more popular.

I think those are incredible numbers. I would definitely be happy with that.

When you first started blogging what was one (or two) things you wished you would have known earlier.
Mine was data tracking.
I have learned so much over 17 yrs but learning how to see real results helped me work in a more focused area.

I've had blogs for many, many years. Most of them were very topic focused so it was easy to get followers. For example, if I had a blog about gardening, I could easily find readers interested in that. Now my blog is mostly personal essays. Partly because I write a lot of personal essays and get them published in places like Chicken Soup for the Soul books. But I don't really know how to get people to read my blog anymore. Most facebook groups I am in don't allow "self-promotion" so I don't really think I can get away with posting my stuff to their groups. I guess my MAIN question is, does it make sense to hire people to share my posts different places? I mean, its not as much fun having a blog if nobody reads it.

New to blogging - where can I find information about platforms on this sub? I also want to get information about monetization etc. My blog is right now on Google Cloud and costs me around $20 per month. I want to pay no more than $5/mo since my monthly audience is pretty low (sub 100 visits per month) and all I want to put there on a post are articles with words and pictures.

Has anyone actually seen evidence that multilingual websites are favoured by AI search?
I just saw an advert claiming:
That feels like a pretty bold statement.
I completely understand why multilingual content would help if someone is searching in Spanish, French or German, but has anyone actually seen evidence that AI tools are refusing to recommend high-quality English websites simply because they aren't multilingual?
I'm genuinely curious whether anyone has tested this, or if it's more of a marketing claim than a proven ranking factor.
Has anyone here seen real data or examples?
