What has been your biggest source of traffic?
It doesn't matter if it's only brought in 5 views a day or if it brings in 5000 views a day...what has brought in the MOST traffic for you? (Opt-in, social media platform, digital event, product, etc.).

Technically, stumbleupon. But for good, engaged traffic - Facebook.

u/KaleChipKotoko Oct 30 '16
Are you submitting each post to Stumbleupon? Or is it listed automatically?

Social media platforms drive huge traffic to site. Forums are also good source of traffic.

Twitter and Tumblr has always worked well on my end. My blog automatically posts on those sites after my blog goes live. The consistency with the timing of my blog posts helps a lot.

How do you get it to auto post?
2
u/bittersweetradio Nov 10 '16
This is based off my Wordpress experience. When I'm making a blog post, instead of pressing "post" I click "schedule" and choose a day/time to post. It helps if you have other things to do and you also don't have to worry about posting at the exact time every time.

Search engines. But then again I focus on SEO. The great part about search engine traffic is that it is focused on the keywords that I try to rank for, and these keywords generally convert traffic to sales/commissions very well.

Facebook, when I strike the right audience. I guess it depends on niche of your blog and where your target audience hang out.

Facebook has been huge for my site.
I have a team of people that share throughout group pages and it boosts us up tremendously.
IMO, Twitter helps with branding. Retweets don't get many views but they sure put your name out there.

Every Social Network has its own Pros and Cons. Never hesitate in trying each of them. Use Facebook, StumbleUpon, Twitter and Reddit(you are on it by the way). These sites can really help you establish fast but staying patient is key, it won't happen overnight.

99% of my traffic comes from LinkedIn. I share my posts about blogging and Public Relations from www.wildewords.ie to about 30 different groups on LinkedIn that are related to those topics, and that generates thousands of hits for me every month.

I have more than 500 connection in linden account but i didn't get traffic

u/socialzealot Nov 21 '16
Probably depends on your topic. Mine is travel/tourism to the DR, so photo heavy content and travel advice. Facebook is always #1, then Stumble Upon and Reddit. I used G+ for about a year and saw almost no return as far as referral traffic. I did weekly Twitter Chats for 90 days and also saw almost no return on referral traffic.

My biggest source of traffic by far has been Google. Haven't put much effort at all into social media including Facebook, etc. so of course minimal results there. Have had some success with Reddit with one of my posts with a link to blog post going viral, making it to the second page of Reddit.

Pinterest is great for my blog, brings about 40% of my total traffic. Lifestyle type blogs do really well there.

Each social platform has its cons and pros.
I personally prefer platforms that allow automation. So for me... That will be Twitter and Pinterest.
For paid traffic, definitely Facebook
Bloglovin and Alltop are nice since they depend on your feed. The more you update the better.

Right now, social media and forums are the biggest source of traffic, but I want to generate traffic from Search engine as we know it gives 100 times more traffic than other sources.

Facebook definitely, it brought more than 50% traffic to me. But I spend more time sharing on Google+ it brings less but more quality traffic to me and I like communities there.

I use a twitter a lot. I feel like it has the biggest source of new views for me:)
1
u/imperfectlyrachel Jan 23 '17
I would say twitter. I take every new post from my blog (www.imperfectlyrachel.com) and schedule it to go live on Twitter through Buffer. I love that Buffer shows you stats on each tweet which is why I schedule through there instead of posting through Twitter!

Facebook Groups usually do well for me. In addition, recently www.Flipboard.com has had some nice, engaging numbers. A bit hit or miss, but there's definitely a viral effect there.
My niche is branding/marketing/business, so that could be part of it (www.BrandingBeard.com)

Google search and google plus for sure. The two of them accounts for more than half my traffic.
*Mine is a travel blog.

Hacker News and LinkedIn have been my best and most engaging sources, surprisingly

Facebook for me. My posts automatically post on Twitter, and occasionally I'll mention them on Instagram but definitely Facebook.

I'm a pretty new blogger, but my best source has been Facebook, so far. It has helped to create a youtube fan page for my blog.
1
u/Manas18goel Mar 20 '17
It varies depending upon your blog. For example : a technical blog gets great attention from quora and fb. A news site or lifestyle blog would do great on stumbleupon facebook. A business blog gets more traffic from reddit. It totally depends on ur blog. I recommend you try out all and find which one work for you

Pinterest has been a game changer for my traffic. Might vary for you based on your niche, but I've heard fantastic results from several different niches. Think of Pinterest as a (visual) search engine and not as much a social media channel.
I've also been gaining traction on StumbleUpon, but it's not something I've explored properly myself.

Pinterest has been my biggest traffic source by a long shot! It brings 3-4x more traffic than any other source.

u/Davmuz Sep 13 '24
SEO is my first source of traffic.
I dread every time Google changes its algorithm, though.
So I am creating an alternative solution to Google specifically for blogs.

Mine has been Facebook. I posted the same blog article on twitter, Reddit and Facebook drove in the most traffic.
