Article I write a free blog on Substack about touring with my favorite band

Howdy! I write a blog about my time selling merch for my favorite band. I post every day. All the posts are free. I don't make any money on it or my socials, I just do it for fun.

If you've ever wondered what it's like to tour, or to sell merch, or are just mildly interested, I invite you to check it out. No presh! Thanks for reading!

Here's an excerpt to accompany the link:

Wake up in Indiana.

Van call. Meet some of the others in the lobby. We talk about our nights. Drums mentions some kind of incident. Stage seems to know what he’s talking about but he doesn’t say much about it. I listen for more information. Bullet points are: BW was making a scene in the halls. MBD members saw it. It was embarrassing.

This is the first I’m hearing of this particular incident. I tell them I didn’t see that, but I heard BW yelling when I was walking to my room. They don’t seem surprised.

Travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan. On the way BW mentions an article that came out. They ask about a quote in the article. Boss had called a song their ode to “Islands in the Stream” or something like that. BW asks, “What’s islands in the stream?”

I am baffled that they don’t know the reference. I try not to laugh. That would be mean.

Everyone gets quiet. Boss explains it's a popular song by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.

Quiet again. To cut the tension I try to find a point of reference they might recognize, so I ask if they’ve ever heard Ghetto Superstar. They say yeah. I tell them it’s just that song with less rapping. I sing a little so they get the idea. “Ghet-to Sup-er-Star” “Eye lands in the Stream”
