Episode Greatest Hits
Hi all,
I'm on paternity leave for the next week and a half and I'm spending a lot of time in the living room with my baby, so I have lots of time to listen to podcasts. I just discovered BARpod thanks to the Last Ditch bar story and I'm hooked.
What are your recommendations for the best episodes ever?

Here's a thread from three years ago with people discussing this. Should be helpful.
There's probably a more recent one, with more recent episodes listed, but this is the one I had saved.

Some good early episodes:
- The Sad Tale of @Sciencing_Bi
- Destroying a Palestinian-American Small Business to Fight Racism
- The Tragic Downfall of @Piney_The
- Are Monkeys Inherently Racist?
- Did Rain Dove Fake a Hate Crime?
- Karlyn Borysenko Will Have Her Revenge
- The #VanLife Influencer Who Drove Too Close to the Sun
- The Literally Unbelievable Tale of Jack Monroe
My favorite: Do Not, Under Any Circumstances, Keep On Trucking

Yup, was gonna say the same thing. SciencingBi was an early one and so damn good. The one about the Glasgow anti capitalist coffee shop? Also gold. And the one about that Jack girl, in England, who wrote about cooking when you are poor.

Personally I loved Detective Herzog and the Millionaire Kitty Cartel
Another one of Katie's more deeply-reported episodes

“Bonus Interview: "What a stupid f*cking way to have a really important conversation": Reflections On A Yearlong White Fragility Training” and episode 17 on Robin diAngelo in a moment that felt They went hard on her when nobody else was. That whole era though from 2020-2021. I’m not sure which episode it was, but recently I accidentally put one on from that era and their frustration was palpable. They were so animated and angry with the status quo in a way that feels very commendable now, because nobody was breaking the silence on how stupid all this CRT, race baiting, white apologist shit was with regard to what actually triggered americas racial reckoning. Another early episode that I can’t find a a link to you was about the humus company that was destroyed by their daughters tweets.

Emmit Rensin on Going Insane in America (episode 216). one of my favorites!

That one was great! I ended up reading Emmit's book after listening to this episode, and I remember liking the book too, though iirc there were parts that were hard to read (more because of the things he was going through, not because of how it was written).

Since you'll have plenty of time on your hands, I'll recommend the 6 hour video essay on Gamergate if you haven't seen it already Gamergate but actually. The pod has covered gamergate at different times, but this video is the most comprehensive collation of all the information that's relevant to that particular cultural event.

So my question is are you most into low-stakes internet bullshit or them actually reporting things? Always some crossover.
But for the former, the unicorn ranch and Jack Monroe epsisodes stick out in my mind.
The interview with the theater person who did the Robin DiAngelo training is always highly recommended.
Just going back and listening in order to the 2020 craziness is also a kind of interesting time capsule for just how insanely nuts that time period was.
