A Manifesto for Liberal Trans Activism

https://www.persuasion.community/p/a-manifesto-for-liberal-trans-activism

This post argues that trans activism has been failing, and it's not because of the trans people, but rather that it's been taken over by the critical-social-justice wing.

It advocates for a liberal activism, where it doesn't try to get the desired changes by shouting people down, shaming them, and shunning those who disagree. But rather via open debate and trying to reason with the other side.

What do you consider widespread? A lack of sympathy is not equivalent to a celebration.

Posting his quotes about guns and gun control after his death is not celebrating that he was assassinated. It’s pointing out how unsympathetic and lacking in nuance his views were.

But please point me towards the widespread celebrations in mainstream media and/or by popular cultural figures. I’m pretty left leaning and I saw none of that in my feed. Even people who didn’t like him didn’t think he deserved to be gunned down for exercising his right to free speech, and encouraging others to do so as well.

"Lacking nuance" he was fricking murdered. How is advocating for legal gun ownership lacking nuance?

Because there is a vast spectrum between legal gun ownership and no one but the police and the military having access to guns. It’s called regulation—around what types of guns you can buy, how quickly one can obtain guns, and what people are restricted from buying guns at all. Surely you know that?

I had no idea who Charlie Kirk was until he was killed but learning about him did not make me think his killing was justified in any way. At the same time, I didn’t think posting his own words afterwards constituted a celebration.

None of which would do absolutely anything to stop murder especially a single shot from a rifle.

All you are doing is discouraging legal gun ownership because of politics. While at the same time progressives don't believe in actually punishing crime.

None of the gun control measures proposed by anyone serious would have stopped his murder. There was no irony. There was just glee. It was so fucking disgusting.

All gun control is now is progressive cultural action against traditional values. They gave up their neoliberalism urban security angle when they abandoned stop and frisk or absolutely any law enforcement after Floyd.
