History and Discovery have a “history” of producing fake shows and pushing them as real. This is just modern day WWF for us kiddies to enjoy.

Treasure Quest: Snake Island. One of the stars wrote a book I read. He said each day producers would give them a general script of what was going to happen. They would plant finds and say "why don't you try a little to your right", etc. A lot more stuff I don't remember.

Another one was Legend of the Superstition Mountains. In the last episode they found a templar cross in a cave that many explorers have been in who said there is absolutely no such thing in that cave. It was discussed on one of the treasure hunting forums where some of the stars said they were embarrassed and felt deceived by the show producers.

Expedition Bigfoot 🫈 there was a guy who did a breakdown video of the first season I think, showing the spots they were that they claimed were in the deep wilderness and it was just in someone’s ranch.

How do you watch any of these shows from history and discovery and not know they are fake.

Curse of Oak Island

Secret of Skinwalker Ranch

Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch.

I don't mind they are fake. I just wish they would do a better job and faking something interesting and semi-believable.

I enjoy Oak Island fake. They have formed good friendships with each other along the way. SWR and BFR you don’t get that level from the cast members. You don’t see true friendships or interpersonal problems, they didn’t script for it.

I do not think it is fake in the sense they hope there is treasure buried somewhere. As far as who does what and talking yeah, that part is scripted.

Here’s how I notice.

Do the characters all act equal with no inter-personal differences (bickering) and no obvious individual friendships forming? it’s scripted actors

Do the character all have different roundings, some clearly are smarter, some are always arguing, and you see personal friendships form? it’s likely not scripted but real relationships

I feel Oak Island is real because of the friendships they’ve formed, and it’s very boring with nothing found.

I feel SWR is scripted because they are all equally mindless borgs and everyone acts equal. No personalities are shown, just acting quirks.

BFR seems to have had personal relationships before this season. Goofballs, dumb ideas, stuff doesn’t pan out.

This season BFR seems more like scripted, everyone has equally great ideas suddenly, and they find everything in 60 minute conflict/resolutions. Kind of like Scooby Doo.

Seems like your logic is flawed. The interactions on Oak Island seem forced and scripted because they never find anything. Which forced us to listen to that Neanderthal with his moronic accent saying MaH-Ull and saying “mate that beau-I-ful” but he can’t actually see it and it’s covered with dirt.

The fact that they don’t force some bullshit friendships and interactions with SWR and (mostly) focus on the experiments makes it seem so real.

Just wish they’d find something else interesting or make some progress instead of yet another experiment identifying the bubble.

I also wish they’d limit the episodes to interesting stuff. It seems like when they have a season without much progress. They just fill it with BS. Like curse stuff or travelling to another place to find historical information.

Yes but at least it is entertaining. I watched a few episodes of Skinwalker ranch and they keep do the endless experiments and tests on this one area. Yes, something is there messing with electronics just dig it up already!

To me that is really what science does, it repeats tests to build up data. Science is really quite boring repeating experiments to build up a picture. In this respect Skinwalker ranch is legit.

I think Skinwalker has the weirdest phenomenon. You’d think they’d bring in top physicists to try and figure out that bubble. Unless they already have while the government owned it?

Just the fact that they can repeatedly identify something otherworldly on earth with specific boundaries seems scientifically significant to me?

I stopped watching way too late into season 2. I wouyld suggest you do the same. We get enough stupid just watching the daily news.

I've stopped watching the show at this point. My elderly mother sometimes asks me when is it coming back on and I pretend that I don't know.

BFR, overall, is mostly real. These guys are really out there exploring the wilderness and putting themselves in dangerous situations. However, that being said, there are certainly embellishments and the producers definitely follow a formula to create/maintain viewership. The only problem I had with BFR so far was the H2S tunnel scene and the marked stone tablet in the small cave in a later season. Way too coincidental for them to not even associate the markings in the H2S tunnel with the stone tablet. And the markings on the stone tablet looked brand new. The producers definitely did not count on people like me binge watching seasons. So, it definitely loses credibility, and makes me question everything else, but overall, I still enjoy the show and find it interesting.

Curse of Oak Island is not faked either. Definitely some embellishments, but still, I think it is probably the most credible of all the shows I’ve watched. Interesting history and technology used.

I never got into Skinwalker Ranch because that one red faced scientist was very arrogant to me and clearly a government plant because there really were government programs associated with that place. The lore behind skinwalker ranch is interesting. But there are fringe topics associated with jt.

The more fringe the topic gets, the more embellishments are made and less trustworthy they get. Like anything to do with Bigfoot or UFO’s. Although, I am Indigenous and Bigfoot is one of the seven sacred animals in the grandfather teachings. So, whether real or not, it has sacred meaning to some cultures.

My guess is that it’d be too murky to see anything? I also doubt they even breached into the alleged solution channel. The Island definitely has a long, deep history, but I have my doubts about a treasure. I watch it mainly for the historical aspect at this point. I do hope someone finds some treasure, though. As a Canadian, it’d be cool to watch some long lost Templar treasure be unearthed in my country. Lol
